President Dan Dacey Honored for Outstanding Service to Youth Baseball and Softball League

Dan Dacey, who is stepping down as president of the Revere Youth Baseball and Softball League after two decades of outstanding service, was honored at the organization’s awards cookout Sunday at Griswold Park.

Acting Mayor Patrick Keefe presented a Mayoral Citation to Dacey at the outset of the awards program.

“This special citation is from our office and the entire City of Revere,” Keefe told the large gathering of players, coaches, and parents. “This award is all about Danny and his family sacrificing all those nights [for the organization]. Danny, you’ve done such an unbelievable job, and I’m really proud of you. You inspired me 15 years ago. Thank you so much. The city is forever indebted to you for your service.”

Dacey accepted the award in his typically humble fashion. “I appreciate it. I’ve enjoyed being an officer and a coach. This is my home. I played here as a kid, so I took a lot of pride in the park,” said Dacey.

Shawn Vetere will be the new president of the Revere Youth Baseball and Softball League.
