Anne “Nancy” Petitto

Her Love and Legacy Will Live On

Anne “Nancy” (Hickman) Petitto of Revere passed away on June 17 at the age of 82.

Nancy was born on May 22, 1941 to the late Roger and Helen (Grigalunis.) She grew up in the West End of Boston. She dedicated her life to her family and was a pillar of strength and support to her husband of almost 52 years, John Petitto.

Nancy was a devoted mother to her five children: Elaine Philbin of New Jersey, William Petitto and his wife, Barbara of Florida, Judy Gunning of Lynnfield, Janet Petitto of Louisiana and James Petitto and his wife, Sarah of North Reading. She was the adored grandmother of eight: Jackie Philbin and Kelley Peck, Rachel and Billy Petitto, Matthew and Ava Gunning and Michael and Anthony Petitto and the dear sister of Geraldine Bragg of California and the late Joan Hickman of California. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in-law.

Professionally, Nancy enjoyed a successful career in real estate. Her expertise, dedication and genuine care for her clients made her a highly respected figure in her field. She was known for her professionalism, integrity and ability to make everyone feel at ease.

At home in Revere, Nancy was the heart and soul of her family. She was a fantastic homemaker, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where everyone felt loved and cherished. Her culinary skills were legendary and family gatherings were always a feast of delicious meals and cherished family recipes. The kitchen was her domain, where she poured her love into every dish, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to taste her creations. One of Nancy greatest joys was traveling, enjoying many trips to Aruba as well as Italy, Japan, Monaco, California, Las Vegas and Kennebunkport. Aruba held a special place in her heart and the memories of those vibrant shores will forever remain cherished by her family.

Nancy will be remembered as a compassionate, loving, and gracious woman, whose strength and kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a radiant smile and a heart that overflowed with love for her family. Although her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit and love will live on in our hearts, guiding us through the journey of life.

A Visitation will be held at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere on Thursday, June 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service in the funeral home at 12 Noon. A private Interment will be held for the immediate family at the Milton Cemetery at a later date.

Roseann M. Ciulla

A Kind and Generous Soul

We are sad to announce the passing of Roseann Ciulla of Revere, age 68, who died on Wednesday, June 14 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She passed away surrounded by her loving family after a complicated illness.

Roseann was born in Malden on June 30, 1954. She was the youngest of three children, raised and educated in Everett and a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1972. Roseann worked primarily in the insurance industry where she was the receptionist for Coverys (ProMutual) in Boston for over 25 years before retiring. She was a longtime resident of Everett and moved to her home in Revere in her later years.

Roseann was a kind and generous soul who doted on her niece, nephews and grand nephews. Family was most important to her, especially caring for her mother, Agnes who lived to be 101 years old. Her family and friends will miss her dearly and cherish their many fond memories. She will forever be missed by her fur baby “Sicily.”

Roseann was the devoted daughter of the late Accursio “Gus” Ciulla and Agnes (Sutera) Ciulla of Everett; the loving sister of Angela M. Biggie and her late husband, Francis “Frank” of  Melrose (formerly of Revere) and the late Thomas L. Ciulla of Lynn; the cherished aunt of Thomas G. Ciulla and his wife, Lilian of Danvers, Keri A. Russo and her husband, Gennaro of Revere and Brian M. Biggie and his wife, Sandra of West Haven, CT; the treasured great aunt of Devin Russo, Tyler Russo and Gabriel Biggie. She is also lovingly survived by her former sister-in-law, Angela Ciulla of Danvers.

Her funeral will be conducted from the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere today, Wednesday, June 21, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere. Interment will be held privately.

Leslie Hopkins

Retired General Electric Turbine Supervisor

Funeral Services were held on Monday, June 19 in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Leslie C. Hopkins, 95, who died on Monday, June 12 at the Baypointe Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center in Brockton following a long illness. Interment followed in Willow Cemetery, Lynnfield.

Leslie was born in Woods Harbor, Nova Scotia to the late Cleveland L. and Florence V. (Pierce) Hopkins. He was one of five children. The family later settled in Revere, where Leslie attended Revere Schools. He was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1945.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1946 and proudly served his country during World War II. He was later honorably discharged and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.  Leslie began a career with General Electric in Lynn and became a turbine supervisor for the company. His career spanned over 50 years when he retired.

Leslie married Jane E. (O’Donnell). They soon welcomed their only child, Jane L. Hopkins, and happily raised her in Revere before moving to Lynnfield in 1972.

Leslie had several hobbies that he enjoyed; bowling was one of them. He was a past member of St. Theresa’s Men’s Bowling League. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bingo and absolutely loved watching the Boston Bruins. He will be missed by his family and friends.

The beloved husband of 42 years of the late Jane E. (O’Donnell) Hopkins, he was the loving father of Jane L. Hopkins and her partner, Karen McDonald of Whitman; dear brother of Pauline Redding and her husband, Robert of Revere, Karen Munson and her late husband, Paul of Richmond, VA and the late Sylvia MacDonald and her surviving husband, Chester of Natick and the late John “Jack” Hopkins and his surviving wife, Janet of No. Andover. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
