Christmas Day is less than two weeks away as hard as it is for many to believe. The hectic gift shopping is in full swing for residents. In these frenzied days many items on a to-do list may just not make the cut.
For too many residents in our city, there is not a to-do list or holiday gifts to purchase. These residents are just making ends meet to provide the bare necessities like food and shelter and heat for their families, never mind a Christmas gift.
This is where members of our community have stepped up to try to help our neighbors. There are many organizations that are helping our most vulnerable neighbors. The Revere Police Toy Drive or a coat drive at Volare Restaurant on Sunday are just two examples of local residents trying to make Christmas more cheery.
There are many other Christmas drives going on through the churches and local clubs and organizations. Please try to help during this season because in giving, that is when one receives.
