New Season, New Coach for RHS Girls Volleyball

The Revere High volleyball program will be under the direction of a new head coach, Emilie Hostetter, this season. Hostetter succeeds Lianne Mimmo, who stepped down from that position after five years at the helm of the Lady Patriots.

Although Hostetter will be inheriting a program that won the Greater Boston League title last year, her 2023 squad will be a young one, with no returning seniors.

“While it is a transitional year, these girls are young and have a lot of potential, so I am excited to see the growth that they make this season,” said Hostetter.

The 2023 Lady Patriots will be led by junior captain Lea Doucette. The other members of the team are: juniors Hadassa Dias, Farrah Habbour, Danna Canas, Samantha Hoyos Tobon, and Liv Yuong and sophomores JuBianca Alvarez, Isabella Arroyave, Sophia Restrepo, Susan Lemus Chavez, Basma Sahibi, and Valery Echavarria.

Assisting Hostetter with the coaching duties will be assistant coach Raela Berry, JV coach Kerry Flaherty, and JV B coach Samantha Myrtil.

The Lady Patriots are set to open their season next Wednesday evening (September 6) when they will host Greater Boston League (GBL) rival Everett. Hostetter and her crew will face all seven GBL foes (Somerville, Malden, Medford, Chelsea,  Revere, Lynn Classical, and Lynn English) twice each and will round out their 20-game schedule with contests against non-league opponents Swampscott (twice), Chelmsford, Lowell Catholic, Greater Lowell Tech, and Essex Tech.
