Short Beach Is a Revere’s Little Slice of Heaven

By Melissa Moore-Randall

Over recent years, Revere Beach has been revitalized with construction of luxury apartment buildings along the Boulevard and Ocean Avenue. In addition, new high end restaurants and businesses including Cut 21, Dryft, Mission Beach House, Fine Line, Starbucks, and the Springhills Suite Hotel have slowly emerged as favorites of Revere resident and tourists. Three mile Revere Beach, which is also America’s first public beach, is slowly bringing back the crowds of years past with its redesign, new landscaping, sidewalks, and improved parking.  Nestled in the southern end of Revere Beach is Short Beach.  A rocky and sandy beach area, Short Beach is a little over a ½ of mile long. On any given day during the summer months, you will see a less crowded version of beach goers sunbathing, swimming, kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding, searching for unique seashells, enjoying time on their jet skis, and maybe taking their pup for a secret swim. Short Beach overlooks the skyline of Revere Beach and its Miami Beach feel and parts of the Winthrop and Nahant shorelines. Short Beach is a hidden jewel that is enjoyed quietly by many during the summer months and not to be missed.
