Maria Tenaglia

Devoted Wife and Mother, Whose Favorite Title Was “Nonna”

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, August 14 in St. Anthony of Padua Church for Maria R. (DiMeo) Tenaglia, 85, who passed away on August 9.

Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born, raised and educated in Bacoli, Napoli, Italy, the daughter of Joseph and Anna DiMeo, Maria spent her early years with her siblings on rowboats and swimming in the Gulf of Pozzuoli. She married Aldo S. Tenaglia in 1962 and soon ventured with her husband to the United States where they began their family.

They settled on Revere Street in Revere and eventually moved to West Revere where they made their home for many years. Maria and Aldo also enjoyed traveling with their close friends and family. They traveled to many destinations from Italy to Brazil and countries in between when they were not playing cards on Saturday night or Pokeno on Monday evenings with neighborhood friends.

Maria was a devoted wife and mother, who took meticulous care of her family and home. She was known for her cooking (Sunday gravy, chicken cutlets, and pizzelle to name a few) and took pleasure in feeding her family, friends, and everyone else.

She was many things to many people but her favorite title, by far was “Nonna.”

Maria was an enormous part of her grandchildren’s lives, helping to raise them and nurture them in every phase of their lives.

She was the beloved wife of the late Aldo S. Tenaglia, who passed away in 2015 after sharing 53 years of marriage together; devoted mother of Anna M. Tenaglia and her husband, Steven St. Arnault of Newbury, Robert Tenaglia and his wife, Susan of Lynn and Lisa E. Polidoro and her husband, Joseph of Revere; cherished Nonna of Isabella M. St. Arnault, Taylor J. Tenaglia, Joseph A. Polidoro III, and Gabriella M. Polidoro; dear sister of Franca Cardella and Raffael DiMeo, both of Italy and the late Antonio DiMeo and Carmelina DiMeo-DiBenedetto.

Ronald J. O’Connor

Devoted Husband, Father, and Family Man

Funeral Services were conducted on Saturday, August 12 in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Ronald J. O’Connor, 89, who passed away on August 9 following a short illness.

Interment and Military Honors took place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born, raised and educated in South Boston, the son of James and Mildred (Daley) O’Connor, Ronald was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He married Georgeanne M. (Vincent) and together they shared 55 years of marriage. Ronald’s nature was to provide and he assisted his brothers and his sister with their educational goals of attending college, even before he enrolled himself. Ronald graduated from UMass Lowell with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering. He then began 30 plus years with the former M.D.C. in Massachusetts until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, watching the Boston Red Sox and vacationing with his wife.

Ronald was a Korean War Veteran, serving honorably in the United States Navy, he was honored to protect the country he loved so much. He was a member of the Revere Moose Lodge #1272 and the American Legion Revere Post #61.

He was the beloved husband of 55 years of Georgeanne M. (Vincent) O’Connor of Revere; devoted father of John C. O’Connor and his wife, Carol of Merrimack, New Hampshire; dear brother of the late James, Paul and June; loving brother-in- law of Richard and RoseLee Vincent and Joseph and Bethanne Cardarelli and adored son-in-law of Mildred Vincent of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
