Vincenza Amato

She Filled Her Home With Love and Core Values

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, June 16th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Vincenza (Mercurio) Amato who died at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere on Saturday June 10th following a long illness. She was 96 years old. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Vincenza was born in Revere on July 7, 1926, to her late parents, Vincenzo “Jimmy” and Theresa (Voci) Amato. She was one of two children. She was raised and educated in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1944. Vincenza went to work at the height of World War II, as a stitcher. She later married her husband, Carmelo Amato. The couple remained in Revere and began their family together. She was the proud mother of her son and daughter and embraced her life as a homemaker. She filled her home with love and core values. Vincenza went back to work for the Boston Globe in a part-time position when her children were grown.

She cherished her family and loved her grandchildren unconditionally. She always put her family first and treasured her time with them.

The beloved wife of the late Carmelo “Melo” Amato, she was the loving mother of the late Maria K. Lavalle and her husband, Joseph LaValle of Point of Pines, Revere and Vincent P. Amato of Revere; cherished grandmother of Joseph M. LaValle and his wife, Kelly of Plainville, Michael V. Amato and his wife, Sarah of Georgetown, Matthew P. Amato and his wife, Laura of New Jersey and Seth Tata Amato; treasured sister of Marie G. Tully and her late husband, Robert E. Tully of Winthrop; great grandmother of Samuel LaValle, Vincenzo, Fiametta, Giannina and Carmelo Amato; former mother-in-law of Lisa M. Tata – Amato of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Longtime General Manager of Oil Operations of Gibbs Oil and Its Successor Companies British Petroleum, Tosco Refineries, and Irving Oil for More Than 50 Years

Donald E. Goodwin Sr., 84, of (Beachmont) Revere, passed away peacefully on June 8 surrounded by his family in his Beechmont home.

The beloved husband of 57 years to Alice R. (Kalligheri) Goodwin, Donald is survived six children: Donald E. Goodwin Jr. and his wife, Maria Ambrosino Goodwin of North Reading, Ann Marie Disabatino of Saugus, Jeremiah F. Goodwin and his wife, Bia Bagough of Maine, John Goodwin and his wife, Sharon Giachinta Goodwin of Lynnfield, Brian Goodwin and his wife, Jeanine Lederman Goodwin of Newton and Douglas E. Goodwin II and his wife, Vincenza Tumbiolo Goodwin of Revere. Donald also leaves behind his fifteen (15) grandchildren and six (6) great grandchildren: Donald E. Goodwin III, Anthony and his wife, Angela Goodwin, James Disabatino, Michael Disabatino and his wife, Jillian Disabatino and their daughter, Margot, Jeremiah F. Goodwin II and his wife, Vania and their children: Stephen, Louis and Henry, Justin Goodwin, Suzy Bagough, Nicholas Goodwin and his wife Meghan and their children:

Ashlynn and McKenna, Meghan Goodwin and her husband, Austin Shefuele, Rachel Goodwin and her husband, Alexander Pascucci, Ryan Goodwin, Jacob Goodwin, Talia Goodwin, Douglas E. Goodwin III, Noah Goodwin and Liam Goodwin. Donald was the brother of the late Green Beret Captain Henry Robert Goodwin, Marcella Pauley and her husband, Daniel J. Pauley and Marianne Rufo. He was also the brother in law of the late Armand

Kalligheri and Charles Myette. He is survived by his loving sister: Kay Myette, brothers in law, Gerad Rufo and Alwin Kalligheri and sisters in law: Sandra McDermott, Sue Kalligheri and Deborah Kalligheri. Donald was the son of the late Douglas E. Goodwin and Mary Ann Campbell Goodwin of Revere. He will be remembered with love by his entire family and countless friends.

Donald was an avid fisherman and loved the sea. As a child he accompanied his father, an engineer on a commercial fishing trawler, to the Grand Banks, Bay of Fundy and Davis Straits where he worked as a haddock fisherman. Donald was the longtime General Manager of Oil Operations of Gibbs Oil and its successor companies British Petroleum, Tosco Refineries, and Irving Oil for more than 50 years.

Donald spent many summers at his home on Squam Lake where he enjoyed cruising on his pontoon boat with his children and grandchildren while listening to Frank Sinatra with a Cognac in hand. Always present at their sports competitions and other activities, Donald loved celebrating his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments.

Visitation for relatives and friends was held at the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach Street, Revere on Tuesday. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Avenue, Revere, Burial to follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Nicholas ‘Nick’ Bellofatto

Retired Revere Fire Captain

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Friday, June 16th from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Retired Revere Fire Captain Nicholas “Nick” Bellofatto, 83, who died at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 9th following a long illness. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the funeral home at 6 p.m. Interment will be held privately.

Nick was a lifelong Revere resident. He was born on June 6, 1940 to Nicholas and Josephine (DeMaso) Bellofatto, one of four children, raised and educated in Revere. Nick married his wife, Patricia (Logue) on November 4, 1961. They remained in Revere and proudly raised their four children.

Nick became a Revere Firefighter and served on the department for 32 years, retiring as Captain. During his career, Nick was a locksmith by trade and co-owned Atlantic Lock prior to becoming the sole owner of the company. Nick had a deep passion for fixing old cars and working on engines of all kinds. He treasured his family and was happiest with family and friends enjoying “Summer Sundays.” He thoroughly enjoyed seeing all his children, grandchildren and extended family swimming in the pool, enjoying the BBQ and simply spending quality time with one another. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The beloved husband of 61 years to Patricia L. (Logue) Bellofatto of Revere, he was the loving father of Deidre A. Keimach and her husband, Brad of North Reading, Patricia Barrasso of Peabody, Nicholas J. Bellofatto and his wife, Erin of Revere and Michael A. Bellofatto and his wife, Diane of Medford; cherished Papa of five grandchildren; dear brother of Edward Bellofatto and his wife, Nancy of Plymouth, Ayn Bellofatto of Revere and the late James Bellofatto. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grand nephews, friends and fellow firefighters.

Jean Rose DiGiovanni

Her World Revolved Around Her Family

Jean Rose (Boccuzzi) DiGiovanni died peacefully on June 10 with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of James DiGiovanni to whom she had been happily married for almost 60 years.

Jean was born in Chelsea on July 19, 1942 and later moved to Revere where she grew up. Jean was daughter of the late Ralph and Jennie (Caputo) Boccuzzi. She graduated from Revere High School in 1960 and worked at John Hancock in Boston until she became a mom. When her daughters were grown, she worked for Bailey’s Studios and Dr. Kaye and Dr. Eidelman’s office for the last 38 years.

Jean’s world revolved around her family, she was the girl’s Blue Bird Leader, member of PTA and hostess to many of the girls’ friends. Her home was always open to everyone.

Jean always cherished her family and her greatest enjoyment was being with them and knowing that they were healthy and happy. Jean enjoyed going to Lake Forest Resort in East Wakefield, NH where she had many friends.

Jean was a devout parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Revere and a member of Ladies Sodality/Sunshine Girl for many years. She was also a parishioner of St. William’s Church in Tewksbury where she resided for the last 12 years.

Besides her husband, James, she is survived by her two daughters, Debra J. and her husband, Max Gouveia of Boston and Lisa M. and Vito Iacovone of Chelmsford. Jean also leaves behind four grandchildren who were the love of her life: Max Gouveia and his fiancé,’ Casey MacDonald, Carly Gouveia, Evan Gouveia and Antonio Iacovone. Jean could be seen at every sporting event cheering on all her grandchildren, even making it to three hockey games and a cheering competition all in one day. She is also survived by her brother, Ted Boccuzzi of Webster, NY and sister, Maryann Cronin of North Carolina. She also leaves behind many close friends and family.

 A visitation will take place on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St, Revere. Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 16 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Revere at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Entombment Woodlawn Mausoleum.
