Get Well, Councillor Powers

We join the Revere community in wishing Ward 5 City Councillor John Powers a speedy recovery from a fractured left hip injury that he sustained in a recent fall at his home.

Powers is resting comfortably at Massachusetts General Hospital where he underwent successful surgery last Thursday, May 25. Powers is in good spirits and will be moving to a rehabilitation center soon to continue his recovery.

Powers said he was excited and hoping to be at today’s groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new Point of Pines fire station. Instead, his granddaughter, Madeline Case, will be his official representative. Powers has been instrumental in moving the project forward, with the goal of increasing the safety of not only Point of Pines residents, but residents across the city.

Powers said he also expects to return to the campaign trail “as soon as possible” as he runs for election to the Ward 5 seat in which he has served admirably for more than two decades.

Best wishes, Councillor Powers, and we hope to see you up and about soon.
