Pleased with Mayor Arrigo

Six months into his term, Mayor Brian Arrigo seems to have done everything in his power to keep the promise he made to the voters of Revere, which was to bring accountability to Revere City Hall. While it might be a little early to put his name in granite, Mayor Arrigo and his staff have quickly set a tone of competent professionalism in his office, which has begun to have a trickle down effect throughout other city departments and agencies.
With the help of strong allies on the City Council like Bob Haas, John Powers, and Jess Giannino; the Mayor has been able to institute a series of fiscal controls, execute an outside audit of all city departments, and insure that city department heads share his vision for the future of the city or find employment elsewhere.
I also appreciate the measured tone Mayor Arrigo has taken with those who opposed his election. Rather than settle political scores and clean house like so many mayors before him, Mayor Arrigo did what he said he would do. He rolled up his sleeves and has tried to work with everyone to make Revere a better place for us to live and work.
There is so much work to do and too many competing interests to satisfy that it almost seems impossible for anyone to succeed as Mayor, but when I drive by city hall now, and I see the shades up and the lights on, I know Brian Arrigo is in there working hard to keep the promise he made to the people of Revere. Thank you Mayor Arrigo, your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Special Iftar planned on June 18

Tuesday, June 7, was the start of Ramadan, a Muslim religious tradition lasting a month. During this month, Muslims do not eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset. At sunset, an Iftar is held. An Iftar is a meal served at the end of the day during Ramadan, to break the day’s fast. Literally, “breakfast.â€
The Moroccan community of Revere would like to invite all people of different faiths including our government officials and religious leaders to a special Iftar on Saturday, June 18 at Beachmont School Cafeteria from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. We feel it is very important that we become involved in our home city of Revere, a city we are very proud of. This Iftar is an opportunity for our community to meet our government officials in a social setting so we can get to know each other on a personal basis.
We look forward to meeting all of you on June 18th.
