A sleeping bag used as evidence in the 1987 murder of an East Boston man found stuffed in the trunk of his car in Revere in that that sleeping bag has turned up again.
The sleeping bag went missing until State Police investigators found it misplaced, apparently tucked away in an obscure corner of the old police station. That was 2009.
Now the family of the slain man is asking for DNA testing to be done on the sleeping bag for potential evidence that might aid in solving the case.
According to the State Police, numerous items associated with the victim of the homicide have already been tested.
However, the family of the murder victim Natale Lombardo is hoping that police will take a closer look into this 25 year-old cold case by more closely examining the sleeping bag.
Perhaps that might be the right thing to do.
