Leo Paul Cody

Revere Resident

Leo Paul Cody of Revere died on May 7. He was 54 years old.

Born in Revere, he was the devoted son of the late Joseph M. Sr. and Hazel (Dockharty) Cody, the dear brother of Julia M. Cronin, Christine Cabral, Joseph M. Cody Jr., Vicki A. Crane and Theresa Cody, all of Revere and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Patricia Olsen Stornaiuolo

Of Las Vegas, formerly of East Boston

Patricia (Olsen) Stornaiuolo of Las Vegas, formerly of East Boston, died on April 29. She was 75 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late George Stornaiuolo and was also preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth Olsen Smith, Constance Olsen Arpino and her brother Harold (Buddy) Olsen Jr. She was the daughter of late Harold Olsen, Sr. and Elizabeth Foley Olsen and is survived by her children; Steven of Las Vegas, Joseph and his wife, Carmela of Middleton, Diane and her husband, Brian Davis of Peabody and Laura and her husband, Adam Muse of New Hampshire. She was the loving Nana to Christina and her husband, David Adam of Georgetown, April and her husband, Jeff Ricker of Georgetown, Michael Stornaiuolo of Middleton, Nicole Giardina of Revere, U. S. Army Sgt. Christopher Giardina and his wife, Lauren stationed in Texas, Emily Muise and the late Vincent Giardina, Jr. and is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Olivia Adam, Alyssa, Adriana and Christopher Giardina Jr., Samantha and Stone Ricker and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements will be private.

Barbara Pineau

Former First Congregational Church Day Care Chef

Barbara A. (Sharpe) Pineau died at her Revere home on May 2 following a long illness. She was 81 years old.

Born in Chelsea, she lived in Revere for most of her life and was a 1948 graduate of Revere High School. For more than 12 years, she was the chef for the Day Care Nursery at First Congregational Church of Revere where she had been a most active member and patron. She was an outstanding craft worker, especially in knitting and crocheting and through the years, she was most generous with her crafts for the church.

She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur A. “Pinky” Pineau who died in January of 1992 and was the devoted mother of Nancy R. Pineau of Revere, Susanne Rodgers of Groton, Matthew D. Pineau and his wife, Carla A. of Revere and the late Allen A. Pineau and the late Mark S. Pineau. She was the dear sister of June Sheldon of Lynnfield, Dorothy Malcolm of Peabody and the late Clifford, John and James Sharpe. She is also lovingly survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Service on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 230 Beach Street, Revere. Burial will be private. Marie ‘Chickie’ Faretra

Former Proprietor of “Before & After Ladies’ Apparel” of East Boston

Marie”Chickie” (Falzarano) Faretra died unexpectedly at her East Boston home on May 5. She was 85 years old.

“Chickie” was born and educated in Chelsea and lived in Revere for many years before moving to East Boston more than 25 years ago. During her working career, she wore many hats – as a clerk at the “Old Racket Store” in East Boston, as a bar maid in several of the local cafes and finally in ladies’ apparel. She worked as an associate at Tello’s of East Boston before opening her own dress shop “Before & After” of East Boston which she operated for 12 years.

She was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Rita (Terino) Falzarano, founders and operators of Rita‘s Flower Shop in Chelsea for more than 65 years; wife of the late Pasquale “Pat” J. Faretra and the mother of the late Pasquale “Pat” Faretra and John M. Faretra; beloved mother in law of Rita M. Faretra of West Peabody; cherished grandmother of Lisa M. Kieran and her husband, Timothy of Wilmington and Ilia L. Faretra of West Peabody; dear sister of Lena Buttiglieri of Beverly, Joanne Dobson of Oakland, California and Regina Falzarano of West Peabody and the late Frank B. “Gypsy Joe” Falzarano, Rose Ciampolillo and Louise Faretra and is also lovingly survived by her great grandchildren, Antonia, Bella and Lex and by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Her Funeral will be conducted from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday) followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Ernest Arsenault

Retired Plumbing and Heating Contractor, French Club Member

Ernest M. Arsenault, a lifelong resident of Chelsea, died on May 4 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 85 years old.

A lifelong member of the French Club, he worked as a plumbing and heating contractor and also worked for the City of Chelsea Building Department.

He was the devoted husband of the late Janet (Gallant); beloved father of Ernest Arsenault and his wife, Brenda of Easton, Bryan Arsenault and his wife, Donna and Karen Arsenault, all of Chelsea; brother of Dorothy Tillinghast of Revere and the late Edward Arsenault; cherished grandfather of Tarra, Christopher, Joseph, Steven, Rennee, Brandon, Cassandra and the late Justin. He is also lovingly survived by his great grandson Chase Matthews with an additional great grandson due in September. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Rita D. Altimari of East Boston died on May 3.

She was the loving mother of Anthony Botto of East Boston; beloved daughter of Iolanda (Iebba) of East Boston; cherished sister of AnnaMaria Altimari of Quincy, Louis Altimari of Attleboro, Olga Altimari-Che and her husband, Phi of Middleton, Antonio Altimari of Saugus and Netta Altimari-Mello and her husband, David of Concord and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mentor, Fashion Adviser and Family  Caregiver

Kathryn M. (Fogarty) Gillen of Revere died following a brief illness on May 2 at the Dexter House of Malden. She was 86 years old.

A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, she was the family caregiver, fashion adviser and mentor. Born and educated in Revere, she was a 1944 graduate of Revere High School.

She was the beloved wife of 63 years to Joseph F. Gillen; devoted mother of Barbara J. (Gillen) Gillham and her husband, Patrick T. of Sherman Oaks, CA, Steven J. Gillen of Revere and Mark S. Gillen and his wife, Maria of Peabody; cherished grandmother of Patrick J. and Kelsey M. Gillham of Sherman Oaks, CA and Christopher J. and Alycia K. Gillen, both of Peabody; dear sister of Mary Norden of Royal Oak, MI, Joanne McAulay of Westwood, Audrey Lovetere and her husband, John of Revere, Jane Forte and her husband, Richard of Waltham and the late Ruth A. Anna (D’Ambrosio) Misner of Everett died on May 2. She was the loving mother of Anna Maria Stanfield, Jane O’Brien, Robert A. and Kenneth R. Richard Hollohan

Of California, formerly of East Boston

Richard G. Hollohan of Imperial Beach, California, formerly of East Boston and Salem, NH died on April 22  following a long illness. He was 82 years old.

A US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a retiree of New England Tel & Tel and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was the beloved husband of 60 years of Margaret I. (Crotty); devoted father of Monica R. Nunley and her husband, John, Paul S. Hollohan, Mary Elizabeth Woods and Margaret A. Hollohan, all of California and the late Richard “Danny” Hollohan; dear brother of Mary Garcia of Billerica, Joseph Hollohan of Maynard and the late Augustine and Michael Hollohan and Theresa Cahalane; cherished grandfather of Melinda, Sean, Andrew and Katherine and is also lovingly survived by his two great grandchildren, Kaelin and Kaila and by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Sylvia Morgan

Retired Bookkeeper

Sylvia E. (Bloom) Morgan of Chelsea, formerly of Sharon and Revere, died on May 1.

Born in Chelsea, she was raised in Revere where she was a long time resident and a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1936. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Temple B’nai Brith, the Brandies College Women’s Auxiliary and New England Sinai Hospital Auxiliary.

She was the beloved wife of the late Moe Morgan;  the devoted mother of Arlene Margie and Vicki Wairi; mother in law of Brian Margie and partner Lynne Butters. She was the loving daughter of the late Edward Bloom and Ida (Kaplan) and the loving grandmother of Scott, Daniel, Josh, Mark and Jeffrey.

John R. Lewis Sr. of Revere died on April 25.

He is survived by his children, John Jr. and Melissa and their mother, Carol Loucks. He was the beloved son of Angela Lewis and the late Kenneth; dear brother of Steven and David of Chelsea and the late James, Kenny and Tommy; grandson of Joan Silverman and the late Eric.

Toni Ann Aresco

Of New Hampshire, formerly of Revere

Toni Ann Aresco of Pelham, NH, formerly of Revere, died by accident on May 5. She was 41 years old.

A member of the Revere High School, Class of 1998, she was the Manager of Technical Operations for Navisite and an avid runner who enjoyed being outdoors.

The beloved life companion of Joseph Addario of Pelham, she was the devoted daughter of the late Angelo and Palma (Alfonso); dear step daughter of William “Bill” Lapio of Lynn and is also survived by many loving cousins, friends and her beloved dog, Brandy.

Member of Chelsea Irish American Club and Beachmont VFW

Edward Lewis of Revere, formerly of Chelsea, died on May 5. He was 85 years old.

He was a late member of the Merchant Marine and a member of the Laborer’s Union Local 22, the Chelsea Irish American Club and the VFW Beachmont Post in Revere.

He was the husband of the late Angelina (Guarino) Lewis; beloved father of Edgar “Ed” Lewis of Manchester, NH and James F. Lewis of Salem; son of the late Edgar and Sadie Belle (Lambert) Lewis; dear brother of Theresa Zardas and her husband, George of Saugus, Frederick “Fred” Lewis and his wife, Lorraine of Saugus, Mildred Thompson and the late George Levy, Robert Levy, Thomas Levy, Viola Moffette, Mary Cunio and Elizabeth Goodrich.  He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
