Raquel MacDonald brought home the top ribbon for the Revere High girls track team with her first place finish in the 100 meter high hurdles at the Northeastern Conference Freshman/Sophomore Meet that was held Friday afternoon in Lynn.
Raquel’s time of 17.2 far outdistanced the field, with her nearest competitor coming in at 18.9, a spread of 1.7 seconds which is quite large for a sprint event.
“The sky’s the limit for Raquel,†effused RHS head coach Peter DiGiulio, who each week can’t seem to say enough about his sophomore talent. “She has great natural ability, but more important, she works as hard as anyone else on the team.†The coach also noted that MacDonald is within striking range of the RHS school record of 16.9.
Also bringing home ribbons from the meet for the Lady Patriots were freshman Caitlyn Caramello with a leap of 4-6 in the high jump, a personal record (PR) that gave her a third place ranking; Noelle Galli with a fourth place effort in the shotput with a toss of 23-10; and Brianna Alimonte with a PR discus throw of 62-8, good for third spot.
Fine efforts were turned in by Kate Ferrante with a long jump of 13-2, a PR; Caramello in the mile in 6:12.8, also a PR; and Nicole Palmisano with a 29.8 in the 200, also a PR.
