Fire destroys vacant Russo’s Tux building on Parkway

A five-alarm fire destroyed a vacant commercial building at the former Russo’s tux shop at 320 Revere Beach Parkway in Chelsea last Thursday, May 30.

The first calls for the fire came in around 10 a.m., with flames and extremely heavy smoke coming from the building.

Crews from surrounding communities, including Revere, were called in to assist with the fire.

There was a partial roof collapse as a result of the fire, but fire crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby triple decker apartment building.

One Revere firefighter sustained a shoulder injury and was taken to MGH. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but fire officials said they believe the fire started in the basement.

Engine 4, Ladder 2, the Air Supply Unit and the Safety Officer responded from the Revere Fire Department.
