Joseph ‘Joey’ Robert Gulla
Had a huge heart and dearly loved his family
Joseph “Joey†Robert Gulla of Peabody, formerly of Revere, passed unexpectedly on January 20.
Joey loved his family dearly and spent every day with his father for their morning coffee at Dunkin Donuts. He also loved spending time with his mother and enjoying her home cooked meals. Joey had a huge heart, a great sense of humor and could always make people laugh.
He was the loving son of Joseph Gulla of Peabody and his loving mother Gloria Coleman DiPietro of Revere; beloved grandson of Teresa Gulla and the late Joseph “Tiny†Gulla of Revere, Gloria Benedict Coleman of Winthrop and the late Robert Coleman of Revere; dear big brother of Anthony and Alexa DiPietro of Revere; adoring nephew of Frank M. Gulla of Revere, Joanne Winn and her husband, Dave of Peabody, the late Robert Coleman and his surviving wife, Barbara of Revere, Dineen Cirame and Pasquale Barone of Saugus, Patrick Coleman and his wife, Helen of Washington, Kelly Cioffi and her husband, Anthony of Winthrop, Kerrie Coleman and his wife, Renae of Lynnfield and Paul Coleman and his wife, Lori of Saugus. He is also survived by many close and loving cousins.
His Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St, Revere on Saturday, January 28 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Retired MBTA carpenter of Tewksbury, formerly of Revere
Vincent L. Liberti of Tewksbury, formerly of Revere, passed away on January 20. He was 91 years old.
A retired carpenter for the MBTA and a US Navy veteran of World War II, he was the beloved husband of the late Dorothea (Swartz) Liberti; the loving father of Carol Ann Demetrio and her husband, John of Tewksbury; dear brother of Anthony Liberti of Salem, Joseph Liberti of Florida and the late Civita “Tina†Papagni and the cherished grandfather of John Demetrio.

Carmine Rescigno
Avid sports fan who never missed a football game
Carmine F. Rescigno of Saugus, formerly of Revere, died on January 22.
Carmine was part of the Local 22 Union for 30 years and an avid sports fan who never missed a football game.
The beloved son of the late John and Anna (DiBiase), he was the devoted father of Anna-Louise Rescigno of Saugus and Cassidy Rescigno of Melrose; dear brother of John Rescigno and his wife, Corinne of Saugus and Richard Rescigno and his wife, Annette of Boxford.  He is also survived by his loving nephews, John and his wife, Jackie, Chris and his wife, Emily, Patrick and his wife, Rosa, his nieces, Marialissa and Ashley and his great nephews, Ryan and Giovanni.

Paul R. Jackiewicz of Revere, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on January 12.
The beloved son of Sally (Muscarella) and the late Stanley. He was the dear brother of Stephen and his wife, Valeri and Scott all of Revere; cherished uncle of Stephen James, Derek, Joshua, Alex, Dylan, great uncle of Scarlet and is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Angelo Tirro
Retired commercial artist for the Boston Globe
Angelo L. Tirro of Revere died following a long illness at the Soldiers Home of Chelsea on Saturday, January 21. He was 100 years old.
Born and raised in Revere, he attended Revere Schools and was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1934. He was a student at the School of Practical Art and graduated in June of 1945 and also attended the Scot Carbee School of Art of Boston for a brief time. Â Â Mr. Tirro entered the US Army in November of 1943 and served during World War II until April of 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Â He began working with the Boston Globe in 1947 and remained there for the majority of his working career as a commercial artist, retiring on March 7, 1982.
His memberships included the Quarter Century Club at the Boston Globe, a life membership at the Revere VFW Leon J. Mottollo Post #4524 and the Holy Name Society at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Revere. He was a long time devotee of St. Anthony’s Community Parish and an avid supporter of his church. Until most recently, his daughter, Donna M. Farrell would accompany her dad to Sunday Mass at St. Anthony’s. He was also a member of the Revere Council, K of C #179.
Both Angelo and his beloved late wife, Lillian G. (Reid) Tirro, were long time members of many national and local square and round dancing clubs throughout the country. They would often attend the many conventions and “round-abouts†that were given both locally and nationally. Lillian passed in May of 2011 after the 63rd wedding anniversary.
Mr. TIrro was the devoted father of: Robert L. Tirro and his wife, Maureen of Hampton, NH and Donna M. Farrell and her husband, Paul F. of Peabody; the cherished grandfather of: LCDR Paul F. Farrell, Jr. and his wife, LCDR Billie June Farrell, USN of Annapolis, MD, Allison M. Wayne and her husband, C. Jake of Revere, Robert L. Tirro, Jr., Ann Stohrer and Dina and Paula TIrro. He is also lovingly survived by several great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was the dear brother of George Tirro and his late wife, Mary of Revere and the late Ralph Tirro and his late wife, Ruth.

Ermanno A. ‘Al’ Belgiorno
Oldest living ‘Gerber Ambassador’ of Gerber Food Foundation and antique entrepreneur
Ermanno A. “Al†Belgiorno, East Boston native and a resident of Revere for 63 years, passed in the presence of his God and his ever faithful family on Thursday evening, January 19 at his Revere residence. He was 102 years old.
Born on January 3, 1915 of humble Italian immigrant parents, Pasquale and Concetta (Madonti) Belgiorno at their East Boston residence on Saratoga Street, he lived in East Boston until moving to Revere in March of 1954.
An alumnus of East Boston High School, Class of 1933, he began a career as a salesman and representative for Gerber Foods Foundation. He gave 33 wonderful and exciting years to the organization, always maintaining that now forgotten work ethic so vital to the “Greatest Generation.†When “Al†reached 100 years old (January 3, 2015), the Gerber Foundation, awarded him their “Oldest Living Gerber Ambassador†award.
Retirement in March of 1977, only served as a brief vacation from the work force and earned him time to think of what he really wanted to do with the rest of his life. Certainly complete and utter relaxation and leisure was not one of his options. With the absolute and complete support of his best friend and partner, his faithful and patient wife of 74 years, Marguerite (Ricciardelli), the couple began a career in the study, sale and acquisition of antiques. They became the friendly older couple on the “Flea Market Circuit†for about 15 years until 1990. Their personalities drew many and their success was most fulfilling for the couple. They did this until the problems of age and unsteady health madeit more sensible to “start smelling the roses.â€
Although no schedule was necessary, a schedule was indeed followed and implemented: morning shopping at Market Basket, walks on Revere Beach Boulevard, late breakfast or early luncheon at McDonalds at Northgate Plaza in Revere and, of course, a weekly stop at Luberto’s Bakery of Revere. So regimented and anticipated at
McDonald’s, that the owner, Elaine, and her outstanding staff, catered to Al’s favorite items. And so endearing, this senior couple became a part of the McDonald’s family. On January 20, 2015, McDonald’s presented and hosted a 100th birthday party for over 70 people (Al and Margie’s McDonald’s family.)
Of course, Al had observed a family party given to him by their children at the Continental Restaurant of Saugus on his exact 100th (January 3, 2015.) That affair was presented with the very best of fine food, fine wine and “fabulous†music. Certificates of recognition and awards were presented to Al from the Mass. State Senate, the City of Revere, the Boston School Committee, and, of course, The White House.
In addition to his beloved wife of 74 years, Marguerite (Ricciardelli) Belgiorno, he leaves three outstanding children: Paula M. DeSimone and her husband, Christopher of Pepperell, Stephen P. Belgiorno and his wife, Taryn of Danvers and Denise C. Belgiorno and her fiancé, Zino Amato of Revere. He was the cherished grandfather to Pamela C. Jeffre and her husband, Daniel of Clearwater, Florida, David M. DeSimone and his wife, Tierney Bianconi of Somerville, Diana M. Belgiorno of Danvers and Leanne R. Belgiorno of Manhattan, NY. He is also lovingly survived by his two great-grandsons, Elias C. and Isaac D. Jeffre of Clearwater, Florida, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and a large assembly of extended family and friends. He was the dear brother of the late Louis S. Belgiorno and Emily C. Chase.

Philomena Mullen
Retired East Boston School’s ‘Lunch Mother’
Philomena E. (Paglucca) Mullen of East Boston died following a long illness on January 19 at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. She was 88 years old.
Born in Winthrop, she lived in East Boston all of her life. She was a 1946 graduate of East Boston High School. After her children were grown, she worked within the Boston School System as a “Lunch Mother†in the East Boston District for about 10 years. She was definitely a stay at home all through their formative years, giving her children and grandchildren the best optimum care.
The beloved wife of 65 years to William G. Mullen, she was the devoted mother to Joyce A.
Hartman and her husband, Jonathan A. Hartman of Oak Island, Revere, William G. Mullen, Jr. and his wife, Ann Marie of Middleborough and James W. Mullen of East Boston; the
cherished grandmother to Taylor and Lisa Mullen, both of Middleborough and Samantha A. and Nicholas A. Hartman, both of Revere; the dear sister to Angelo Paglucca of East Boston,
Anna Coviello and her husband, Frederick of Whitman, MA and the late Mary Page, Julia Puzzo, Phylly, Angelina, Vincenza, Michael and Alfred Paglucca. She is also lovingly survived by her sister-in-law, Vera Paglucca of East Boston, many faithful nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Theckla (Bohill) Ryan of Butlersland, New Ross and formerly Benildus, Cork Rd, Waterford died on January 21.
 She was the daughter of the late Cristie and Biddy Bohill, wife of the late Jim, sister of the late Colm Bohill, cherished friend of the Independent Newspaper Group members. She is sadly missed by her loving son, Anthony, daughter-in-law, Annmarie, grandchildren, Caitriona, Aisling and Clodagh, baJohn, sisters Bernie and Mamie. brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Past Rosetti-Cowan Senior Center member whose children and grandchildren meant everything to her
Mary Catherine Indorato of Revere, formerly of Chelsea, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on January 17.
Mary was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada.  Her children and grandchildren meant everything to her.  She always made sure family was together for Sunday dinners. Mary had a great love for playing cards and bingo with her friends. Mary was a past member of the Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center.  She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
The beloved wife of the late Santo Indorato, she was the devoted mother of Judi Indorato of Winthrop, Robert Indorato, Richard Indorato and his fiancé, Leah Singer all of Revere, Joyce Portalla and her husband, Donald of East Boston, Joseph Indorato of Revere and the late Joan Indorato, Michael Indorato and his surviving wife, Alison; dear sister of Peter, Mary Ann, and the late Sarah, and Andrew.  She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Jodi, Michael, Christa, Anthony, Bubba, Thomas, Robin, Mikey, Karina, Stephanie, Juliana, Deanna, Angela, Maria and by many great grandchildren.
