There are a lot of things that must happen before Revere voters are asked to go to the polls and give their two cents on the casino proposal and mitigation package at Suffolk Downs.
However, when and if that vote occurs, the basics are as follows.
•Any successfully negotiated mitigation package with Suffolk Downs would have to be submitted within seven days after striking that agreement with the City of Revere so that a referendum election can be called.
•The City would be charged with conducting that referendum no earlier than 60 days after calling for the election, and no later than 90 days after calling for it.
•The successfully negotiated mitigation package must be publicized for at least 45 days before the election.
•The package must be publicized in the newspaper of record and on the City’s website.
•The applicant, Suffolk Downs, must reimburse the City for the full cost of the election – whether they win or lose – within 30 days after the election.
