She turned down Harvard.
The Revere Public Schools announced this week that Alicia Barry is the valedictorian of the 2016 class. Barry, the daughter of Revere Firefighter Frank Barry, has chosen Georgetown University over Harvard University and will study international relations.
The salutatorian this year is Luke Hartnett, who will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Assistant Principal Jon Mitchell said the class this year is of a very high quality, with students ready to attend several high-quality colleges and universities.
“The top students are getting into really good schools,†he said. “They have a lot of personality. They excelled athletically and academically and have really big standouts in the class.â€
The president of the 2016 RHS class is Michael DeAngelo.
This year’s graduation will be on Thursday, June 9, in the Harry Della Russo Stadium at 6 p.m. The rain date will be June 10.
