The Revere High girls tennis team turned the tables on Lynn Classical to earn a 3-2 win, thereby reversing an earlier season defeat to the Lady Rams by the same score.
Victoria Mauro at second singles proved to be the key performer for Coach Carla Maniscalco’s squad, as she won her match this time around in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, to provide the impetus for her team’s victory.
Also emerging triumphant against their Classical counterparts were Yvonne Rincon at third singles, 6-3, 6-4, and the first doubles tandem of Jennifer Kingston and Donna Le, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 in a match that proved to be the last and deciding match of the day.
“Jennifer and Donna played really well and showed a lot of mental toughness to win in three sets with the match on the line,†said Maniscalco.
In the other matches on the day, Elma Meskovic fell at first singles, 2-6, 2-6, and the second doubles duo of Cristina DiFabio and Nancy Nguyen came out on the short end of a 1-6, 1-6 decision.
Maniscalco and her crew now stand at 5-7 on the season and need to win three of their remaining four matches to finish at .500 and qualify for a state tourney berth.
The Lady Patriots were set to play Lynn English Monday (which also included a resumption of a rain delayed match in which Revere was leading), Peabody today (Wednesday), and Beverly later in the week.
