Harvard Graduate School of Design Studio Project on Revere Waterways
Dear Editor,
I am writing to inform you about an exciting collaborative program currently underway between the City of Revere and the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). The Revere Waterways project is a fifteen-week initiative that seeks to identify how Revere migl1t strengthen relationship to the key water resources that surround it: Revere Beach, Rumney and Belle Isle Marsh, and Chelsea Creek. The initiative is led by GSD students who will engage directly with the City of Revere, community-based organizations and the broader public to better understand the strengths and challenges that lie in our relationship to water, and take stock of the economic, ecological, recreational and other opportunities that these resources represent. Ultimately, the students will offer physical, policy-based, or programmatic recommendations aimed at making Revere a better place to live, work and play.
You may be contacted by students over the next several weeks to interview you, ask that you participate in a focus group, or visit your place of business. They are reaching out to better understand the current dynamic for immigrants and refugees coming to the City, and learn directly from the community. Students will present their findings and recommendations to the City at the end of the semester. This is a great opportunity for the City to gain valuable insights from the studio project, and help inform the City on policy going forward.
The students are working through the Community Development and Planning Department and I’m happy to answer any questions you might have about the project. I’m available at (781) 286-8181 x 20324
Sincerely,
Tom Skwierawski
