Carl Bartolo

Of Lynn

Standout Revere High School Athlete Carl J. Bartolo of Lynn died on December 2 at the age of 89. 

A standout athlete while at Revere High School, he was born in Boston on November 11, 1932 to the late Rosario and Frances (Engle), the dear companion to Eileen Fortucci of Lynn, husband to the late RoseMarie (Gentile), dear father of the late Randy Bartolo and step father to Lisa of Chelsea, Robert and his wife, Trisha of Revere and Ronnie of Florida.  He is also survived by his grandchildren in Florida.

Janice Spracklin

Former Proprietor of ‘Jan’s Country Kitchen’

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, December 1 in Blessed Mother of the Morning Star Parish – St. Mary’s Church, Revere for Janice A. “Jan” (Murphy) Spracklin, 74, who died in the loving presence of her family and her God on Friday, November 26 at her home in Revere following a long illness with breast cancer.

Jan was born in Boston, raised and educated in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1965. Jan was married to her love, Norman G. Spracklin on November 19, 1969. After they were married, they settled in Chelsea before moving to Revere in 1973. Together they raised their children and Jan was a very dedicated mother and wife, first and foremost. One of Jan’s proudest accomplishments was when she owned and operated “Jan’s Country Kitchen” for about 10 years. She served delicious food and it was her witty personality that people fell in love with. She treated all of her customers as if they were her family, which in some cases, they became part of her extended family.      

Jan was always a kind and loving person who always found time to help a friend in need.

The devoted and beloved wife of 52 years to Norman G. Spracklin of Revere, she was the loving mother of Lisa A. Spracklin and Eric C. Spracklin, both of Revere; cherished grandmother of Courtney T. Spracklin of Burlington; dear sister of Elaine Westmoreland of Saugus, Marilyn Jones of Revere, Phyllis Deleidi and her husband, Raymond of Chelsea. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Remembrances may be made to Susan G. Komen Global Headquarters, P.O. Lena ‘Lee’ Bailey

Longtime Member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours today, Wednesday, December 8 from 10 a.m. thru 12 (Noon) in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) Revere for Lena R. “Lee” (Aldorisio) Bailey, 99, who passed following a long illness at Woodhaven of Tewksbury on  Saturday, December 4. Her Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home following the visitation at 12:15 p.m. and immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. (Parking is available left of the funeral home).

Mrs. Bailey was born, raised and attended Revere Schools. She lived in Revere until 1962 when the family moved to Tewksbury, where she remained until her passing. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francis J. Bailey, VI, who passed in April of 1984; the cherished mother of Beverly A. Daigle of Revere, Patricia L. Bailey of Coral Gables, FL and the late Carolyn Joyce Bailey, the proud grandmother of many grandchildren, many more great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. On this coming May 2, 2022, Lee would have observed her 100th birthday.

She was the devoted sister of Donald Aldo and his wife, Rose of Malden and the late Angelina Aldorisio, Joseph Aldorisio, Vincent A. Aldorisio, Louise Butare, Edward Aldorisio, Eleanor Hart, Robert Aldorisio, Harold “Harry” Aldo and Josephine Turpin. Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews also survive her.

Frank Gulla

He and His Twin Brother Were HNWA New England Tag Team Champs

Frank M. Gulla, a lifelong resident of Revere, lost his battle with cancer on December 2 at the age of 69.

Frank was born in Winthrop to the late Joseph “Tiny” Gulla Sr. and Teresa (Colarusso) Gulla. He was the loving partner of Toni Serena of Revere, father of Michael Gulla and grandfather of Matthew and Drayven, beloved uncle of Davida Winn and the late Joey Gulla; cherished brother to his twin, Joseph Gulla of Peabody and Joanne Winn and her husband, Dave of Colorado, formerly of Peabody, and the late John Gulla. 

Frank and Joe Gulla started wrestling at the age of 18.   They would later become the NWA New England tag team champs.  There are many great memories and stories of his time with his brother in the ring. Their wrestling name was Long Riders with the “House of Pain.”   

Frank loved to ride his motorcycle.  He will be truly remembered for his laughter, smile and outgoing personality. 

A Visitation was held at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St, Revere on Tuesday, December 7 followed by a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home.  A private Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development & The Jimmy Fund, P.O.
