We realize there are only a few nights of summer remaining but we hope that Revere residents will take the time to view tonight’s mayoral debate on RevereTV, channel 9.
The Revere Journal is proud to partner with Revere Youth in Action and sponsor the debate featuring the three candidates for the esteemed position of mayor: Mayor Dan Rizzo, Councilor-at-Large Brian Arrigo, and Cheryl Whittredge.
Bob Dunbar, executive director of RevereTV, graciously agreed to televise the debate live (beginning at 7 p.m.) and we understand that there will be gatherings in the city where large groups of residents will be watching the debate together – and that’s just great for the entire political process.
We hope that residents will watch the debate, listen carefully to the responses from the candidates and head to the polls this Tuesday (Sept. 1) and cast their ballots.
As if the mayoral election were not enough to ignite the interest of the community, there is also a hotly contested councilor-at-large Preliminary Election that has attracted 12 highly qualified candidates. There will be a School Committee election in November.
Revere has always been a politically active community and some of the past elections have been true barnburners, drawing huge turnouts at the polls.
We hope that residents will continue to demonstrate their enthusiasm for politics and take part in the electoral process, beginning with tonight’s exciting mayoral debate.
