A report last week indicated Boston Mayor Thomas Menino sent a letter to Suffolk Downs management expressing his displeasure with plans revealing the track is considering opening the casino first, if approved to do so, and then getting on with the business of building the resort casino facilities after that.
No way, wrote Menino.
Once again, track officials were quick to confirm the mayor’s letter and the fact that Suffolk Downs officials were rushing to give him development plans and schedules were two moving parts that had not yet come together.
Suffolk Downs CEO Chip Tuttle said the mayor’s displeasure was more about misunderstanding than anything else. He said also that Suffolk Downs was right now preparing information sought by the mayor to prove the track is going to build the casino at the same time it builds everything else around it.
This is, after all, what everyone involved wants and we suppose it is what we are going to get.
