Blanche Silva

Blanche. L. ( Preston ) Silva of Revere died on February 9. She was the beloved wife of Richard H. Silva Sr.; devoted mother of Robert P., Ronald M. and his wife, Rosane, all of Revere, Randy S. and his wife, Claire of Peabody and the late Richard H. Silva Jr.; sister of Michael ” Joe” Preston of Revere, John Preston of W. Bridgewater, Joan Starr of Florida., Patricia Hirsh of New Hampshire and Robert Preston of Revere; grandmother of Kirsten, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Marissa, Austin and Zackary Silva and Renee and Matthew Eagan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Her Funeral will be held from the Magrath Funeral Home, 325 Chelsea St. (at Day Sq.) East Boston on Thursday morning at 9:15 followed by a Funeral Mass in The Sacred Heart Church at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Anthony Mellace

Wellesley Resident

 Anthony V. Mellace of Wellesley died on February 11. He was 82 years old. A retired laborer for Atlas Paper and a member of the Italian Club of Wellesley, he was born in Revere and was the beloved husband of the late Rose F. (Naples) Mellace; devoted father of Virginia Mellace of Maine,  Toni Ann Mellace Murray of Connecticut and Theresa Marie Levine of Wellesely; dear brother of Arthur Mellace of Peabody, John Mellace of Amesbury, Adelaide Dellorusso of Revere and the brother of many other late siblings. He was the cherished grandfather of Justin, Christopher and Sarah Linn.

His Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons~Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere on Friday, February 17 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Robert ‘Harry the Hat’ Magro

Robert “Harry the Hat” Magro of Revere, formerly of Cambridge, died on February 12. He was the loving father of Kenneth Quinn of Lowell, Helen Donadio of Woburn, Harry Magro of Florida, Gloria “Terry” Phelan of Tewksbury, Paul Magro of Florida and Regina Salinas of South Carolina; brother of the late Helen Turco, Richard and William Magro; uncle of Jackie Roy, Dee Dee Waite, Kathy Lawson, Edmund Eon and John Eon.

He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) today,  Wednesday, February 15 from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Marion DeAngelis

Brewer Petroleum Retiree

Marion E. (Duffy) DeAngelis, a life long resident of Revere, died on February 11 at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. She was 86 years old.

Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1944. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper for Brewer Petroleum. She was also a member of the choir at the Immaculate Conception Parish for many years and a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish of Revere.She was the daughter of the late Michael F. and Susan J. (Keane) Duffy; wife of the late Louis A. DeAngelis who died in May of 1981; the devoted mother of the Rev. Mark J. DeAngelis of St. Bridget Parish, Framingham and Ronald L. DeAngelis of Revere; dear sister of Agnes Duffy of Malden and the late John and Thomas Duffy. She is also lovingly survived by her sister in law Barbara Duffy of Hopkinton and many nieces and nephews.

Peter Kaha, Jr.

Of Oregon, formerly of Revere

Peter R. Kaha, Jr. of Oregon, a former resident of Revere and Malden, died on February 11 at a Portland, Oregon Nursing Facility following a long illness. He was 78 years old.

He lived in Revere and Malden before heading out to Portland, Oregon more than 50 years ago. Most of his working career was spent as a mechanic for several rubber manufacturers.He was the son of the late Peter R. Kaha, Sr. and Wilma J. (Jimerson) Kaha; husband of the late Dolores Kaha; devoted father of Matthew Kaha, Auriana, Peter and Mary Kaha, all of Portland, Oregon and the late Michael Kaha; dear brother of Aloha Winchester of Pittsfield and Wilma T. Stevens of Revere. He also leaves several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Valentina Malta

Valentina M. (DeSouza) Malta died at her Revere home following a long illness on February 9. She was 80 years old.

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, she came to Revere as a young child, attended Revere schools and completed her education in hairstyling and cosmetology. For many years, she owned and operated “Salon de Val” from her home on Conant Street. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Joseph Mottolo VFW Post of Revere.

The wife of the late Joseph, she was the beloved mother of Dolores M. Balliro and her husband, Bruno of Revere, Sarah McGuirk of Haverhill and the late Jodi Ann Marino and the late Vincent Malta; devoted grandmother of Dolores V. Marino, Joseph D. Balliro and Joseph R. Marino and his wife, Danielle, all of Revere; dear sister of Dolores Pires of Revere, Louis DeSouza of Saugus and the late Mary Costa; cherished aunt of Denise D. Parton and her husband, Randy of Orlando, FL, Debra A., Steven A. and Joseph C. Pires, III, all of Revere; loving great-grandmother of Giano Marino and Cathryn Quinn and grand aunt to Mark P. Parton and his wife, Randi of Oceanside, CA and Angela R. Parton of Orlando, FL.

Edna (Chase) Cantalupo of East Boston died on February 8.

Alfonso ‘Sonny’ Terino

MBTA Retiree

Alfonso F. “Sonny” Terino of Everett died on February 10.

Mr. Terino was a US Army veteran of World War II, a retired MBTA stockman, and a member of the Elks, V.F.W. and American Legion.He was the beloved husband of the late Raffael “Lovey” (Freda); father of Edward and his wife, Cheryl of Windham, NH, Joanne Terino and her husband, Jonathan Elwell of Canterbury, NH, Regina Schrage and her husband, Edward of Revere, Deborah Mercurio and her husband, James of Revere, and the late Elena; brother of Martha DiRienzo, Frances Myers, Janet DiCalegoro and the late Clementina DiCesare; loving grandfather of six: Kerri-Ann, Kristine, Francis, Edward, Patricia and Geena and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary M. (Gilmore) Duffy died in Revere on February 6 following a brief illness. She was 93 years old.

She was the wife of the late Thomas H. Sr.; cherished mother of Helen M. Lundquist of Revere and the late Thomas H. Duffy Jr. and Frances Burke and is also lovingly survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Had Courageous Battle with Muscular Dystrophy

Nunziato Orlando of East Boston died on February 7 after a long and courageous battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

He was 33 years old.A 1996 graduate of St Domenic Savio High School and a 1998 graduate of Newbury College, he was the cherished son of Salvatore and Tindara (Crisafulli) Orlando and devoted brother of Saverio and Maria Tindara Orlando, all of East Boston; loving grandson of Saverio Crisafulli and Salvatora D’Amico of Italy and the late Nunziato Orlando and Maria Iararra. He is also survived by many adored aunts, uncles, cousins and his pet dog, Peppino.

Mary Theresa (Geary) Liadis of Malden, formerly of Chelsea, died on February 7 at the Sawtelle Hospice House after a long illness. She was 80 years old.

Born in Chelsea and a resident of Malden since her marriage, she was Traffic Supervisor for the City of Malden for 31 years and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph’s Church, Sacred Heart Church and the Immaculate Conception Church.

She was the devoted wife of the late Donald J. Liadis; beloved mother of Nicholas F. Liadis and his wife, Linda of Manchester, NH, Helene Willis of Lynn, Donna Brown and her long-time companion, Gene Duggan, Jr. and Kathleen Lavargna and her husband, Lawrence, of Tewksbury; dear sister of Francis Geary, Jr. of Peabody, Margaret Margossian of Bradford, Roseanne Festa of Revere and the late Ann Calloway, Charles and Anthony Geary; cherished grandmother of Rochelle, Craig, Stacy, Keith, Crystal, Amanda, Shannon, Vincent and the late Richard and Ryan. John Cardillo

Retiree of the former Smithcraft Co.

John G. Cardillo died in his Revere home on February 12 following a long illness. He would have celebrated his 95th birthday on March 5.

Born and raised in Revere, he worked as a quality control manager for over 45 years for the former Smithcraft Co. of Chelsea and was a long time devotee of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community.

He was the son of the late Giocchino and Louisa (Sateriale) Cardillo; the beloved husband of 60 years of Mary R. (Alba); devoted father of Paula Cardillo and LuAnn Cardillo, both of Revere; cherished grandfather of Kristyn Ann Pardi and her husband, James of Stoneham and Lauren Ann Kulakowski of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by his great granddaughter Juliana Maria Pardi and many nieces and nephews. He was the dear brother of the late Louise Fino, Joseph, Henry, George M., Emilio, John and Carmine Cardillo.

Paul C. Pistone of Winthrop, formerly of Revere and East Boston, died on February 13.

A US Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of Carpenters Union Local 218, he was the beloved husband of Madeline (Pace) Pistone with whom he shared 46 years of marriage; loving father of Marie Mieggs of Saugus, Christine Pistone and Diane Marie Bennett, both of Revere, Paul Pistone of Chelsea, Janet Kay Beach of Florida and the late Torrie Denise Pistone; dear brother of Carol Barone of Connecticut, Marie Caseletto and Gladys Yutkins, both of Chelsea; cherished grandfather of seven and great grandfather of two.

Decorated Veteran, US Postal Service Retiree

William A. Lanza of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on February 12.

A US Army Air Corp veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Bronze Star Air Medal, he as a former US Postal Service employee at the South Postal Annex.

He was the beloved husband of Yolanda (DiGiulio); devoted father of Patricia Fitzgerald and her late husband, John of East Sandwich, Susanne Tuttle and her husband, Donald of Easton, AnnMarie Lanza and her husband, Bruce Porter of Sudbury; loving grandmother of Patrick Fitzgerald and his wife, Jennifer of Pennsylvania and Brian Fitzgerald and his wife, Meghan of New York.

He is also survived by three loving grandchildren: Aaron, Brendan and Maeve.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St Anthony’s Church Revere on Thursday, February 16 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
