Fourth Gear: Boys Track Team Cruises Past Winthrop

The Revere High boys track team cruised to its fourth win of the season with a runaway victory over Winthrop, 94-33, last Thursday.

Karim Sahila, Vito Licata, and Devin Colon were double winners for the Patriots. Karim captured the 400 intermediate hurdles in a time of 62.7 and the triple jump with a landing of 35-5. Vito garnered firsts in the shotput with a heave of 41-5 and the discus with a toss of 102-3. Devin brought home firsts in the 400 meter dash in 52.2 (which qualified him for the state meet) and the long jump with a leap of 19-5.

Other individual winners for Revere were Vin DiChiara with a javelin toss of 116-10; Zack Primo in the 800 meter run in 2:11; Albion Lici in the 100 high hurdles in 18.3; and Ernesto Bonilla in the mile in 5:13.

The Patriots 4 x 100 relay quartet of Ricardo Maldonado, Dichiara, Edgar Duran, and Jeff Simbert also took first place with a time of 49.8.

Also contributing to the Revere onslaught with second place efforts that added three points to the Revere scoresheet were: Kane DiMasso in the 400 hurdles in 70.2; Brian Collins in the two mile run in 11:32; Maldonado in the 100 dash in 12.0 and in the triple jump with a 34-2;  Islam Douane in the mile in 5:36.7; Tuyen Tran in the 100 hurdles in 19.6; Mike Fitzpatrick in the 400 in 53.4; Kristi Nushi in the 800 in 2:15; Kyle Gotham in the 200 in 25.7; and Simbert with a shotput throw of 38-2.

Third place finishes that added points to the Revere total came from: John DelloRusso in the two mile in 11:46; DiChiara in the 100 dash in 12.1; Rawlings Toglon in the 800 in 2:29; Ben Graciani in the 200 dash in 27.1; Doud Farah in the long jump with a leap of 16-2.5; Gotham with a triple jump of 33-10.5; Abdul Hamedeh with a shotput toss of 36-8; Nick Romano with a discus toss of 79-10; and Paul Rizzo with a javelin throw of 97-8.

Mosko and his squad travel to Lynn English today and to Gloucester next Tuesday.
