Boys soccer team off to a 2-0-2 start

The Revere High boys soccer team is undefeated and unscored upon through its first four games this season, sporting a 2-0-2 record.

After dueling non league rivals Malden Catholic and Central Catholic to 0-0 battles last week, Coach Nik Tower’s Patriots exploded for a 4-0 triumph over Northeastern Conference rival Saugus on Monday.

Senior Leo Giraldo gave Revere all the goals they would need, plus one, with two markers in the first half. Senior Captain Andres Herrera assisted on both goals.

Fellow senior captain Breny Guzman then reached the back of the Saugus net about 15 minutes into the second half and Herrera put the icing on the Patriot victory cake a few minutes later to account for the 4-0 finale.

“Our defense obviously is playing very well,” said Tower, “and our keeper, Alphonso Rosales, has been coming up with the key saves when needed.”

Tower also lauded his team’s unselfish style of play through the first part of the season.

“The passing starts from the defense and the ball gets worked up the field with some nice one touch passing,” said the coach. “Things are going well and we’re trying to keep the positive energy.”

The boys soccer team travel to Lynn English today and to Peabody Friday before they return home to host Lynn Classical next Tuesday and Winthrop next Wednesday.
