The Revere High hockey team pumped in five goals in an opening period barrage and never looked back en route to a 7-0 triumph over former GBL rival Everett last Wednesday.
Five different Patriots lit the lamp for Coach Jim Palumbo’s squad, Jay Sasso, Dale Paradise, Pat Bartol, Anthony Noel, and Sean Dean. Sasso assisted on two of the markers and Paradise earned one assist.
Two more Revere goals in the second frame sealed the deal, with Sasso, assisted by Dean and Nick Adreani, and Mike Testa, assisted by Joe Corbett and Jon Tran, applying the coup de grace. RHS netminder Nick DiMare earned the shutout, his first of the season.
The victory lifted the Patriots to 4-5-2 on the season and brought them into Saturday’s game with Marblehead seeking to get to the .500 mark. However, the Magicians are one of the best defensive teams in the league and limited Revere to just nine shots on goal.
The Pats had their best chance to get on the board at the end of the second period when Dean hit the cross bar However, that would be as close as Revere would get to reaching the back of the Marblehead net.
DiMare and the Revere defense likewise proved impenetrable, but with 4:28 to play the Magicians broke the deadlock with a power play goal. The Patriots pulled DiMare in the final minute in favor of a sixth skater, but Marblehead slid in an empty netter for the 2-0 final score.
Palumbo and his crew will seek to reach the elusive .500 mark this week when they meet Swampscott tonight (Wednesday) at Salem State at 8:00 and Danvers Saturday at 5:00, also at Salem State.
