Attorney Phil Boncore, a councillor at large in Winthrop, has pulled papers in anticipation of a possible run for Robert Travaglini’s vacant senate seat. Boncore will apparently be running as an Independent. By running as an Independent he can skip the primary.
Last night at Joe Tecce’s Restaurant in the North End, Representative Anthony Petruccelli’s campaign committee hosted a well attended fundraiser. Petruccelli, who hasn’t yet officially announced for Trav’s seat, is off and running. Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Boston City Councillor Sal LaMattina are backing Petruccelli and were in attendance. About 200 people packed Tecce’s. Also, Congressman Mike Capuano is apparently set to endorse Petruccelli.
Meanwhile, Revere City Councillor Dan Rizzo continues to run hard early on. A spate of Rizzo signs have have been placed in Winthrop, where Rizzo is said to be concentrating.
