Letters to the Editor

Supports Kelley

Dear Editor,

I’m writing to note how impressed I’ve been with Michelle Kelley’s candidacy for one of the five At-Large City Council seats. She is both an attorney and a realtor, and she’s obviously someone who cares about our city and what goes on with taxpayer dollars. Michelle Kelley has earned my vote, and I’m strongly encouraging my neighbors and your readers to also vote for her on November 7.

She’s shown an incredible amount of energy and citywide appeal, particularly for a first-time candidate. I’ve found her to be substantive and very policy-focused, really in tune with what people care about. I admire her willingness to stand up against developers and to take on the business-as-usual, status quo crowd. That takes guts, and it’s what I want in an elected official. She stood up and made her voice heard about the Biolab at Suffolk Downs, and she got meaningful results.

Does the fact that she is the only woman on the citywide ballot mean something to me? It does, because I believe that representation is important, but it was by no means a deciding factor in determining my vote. Michelle Kelley has shown the ability to be a leader on the City Council, to bring balance and transparency.

Please join me in voting for Michelle Kelley on November 7.

Support for Kathryn Schulte-Grahame

Dear Editor,

I am writing to ask you to Cast one of your School Committee Votes for someone I truly believe will be the kind of School Committee representative our city needs. As a long time, resident of Revere, I have worked with many groups and people who, like me, are committed to ensuring that our city can thrive and survive as we move forward. People who also understand that our children need a good school system to help them to thrive and survive. I truly believe that Kathryn Schulte-Grahame is one of those people and ask you to cast one of your School Committee Votes for her.

Since coming to the city seven years ago, Katy has worked tirelessly as a volunteer in the Revere Schools system. As a mom of two children at the Beachmont School, she has been invested in the success of Revere Schools. She is the Treasurer of the Beachmont PTO and has worked tirelessly to develop new programs, innovations, and opportunities within the school, was an active contributing member of the new Revere High School Visioning Team, and actively supported the advancement of new Revere High School.

Katy’s professional experience and accomplishments as an educator and administrator at Northeastern University (NU) is another very important reason why I believe she will make a great School Committee representative. As a professor at NU, Katy implemented a program to work with incoming college freshmen, advising and guiding them through their 1st year of college and setting them on a path to succeed during their college education. Her program at NU is one of the most successful in the country resulting in a student retention rate of 97%. Katy also has 20 years of experience developing and providing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education.

She has the knowledge and experience in the educational field, the commitment to a higher quality of education in our community, and the compassion for and understanding of the needs of students and teachers. Kathryn Schulte-Grahame has all the qualities to be the type of school committee representative we need to set the Revere School System on a right path to ensuring Revere’s students are on the path to educational success.

On Tuesday November 7 please get out and Vote. The future of our city and the future of our country depends on it. And when you vote, please cast a vote for the future of our children by voting for DR. Kathyrn Schulte-Grahame, last name on the ballot.

Thank you.
