BIKE OFFICER HELPS SAVE LIFE

Revere Police are giving kudos to long-time officer Doug Zingali for helping to save an elderly woman who was having medical issues inside Nick’s Deli on Washington Avenue.

Police said that on June 30 Zingali had parked his cruiser and was doing patrols on his bike – a new initiative started just late last month.

While no calls to 9-1-1 came, Zingali could tell from the commotion inside as he rode by the deli that there was trouble.

The elderly woman, who is 80, was on the floor and was having trouble breathing.

The officer initiated CPR, and was soon joined by Officer Devon Surian, who assisted. They continued treatment until Revere Fire arrived and the woman was transported by ambulance to the Whidden.

She had been eating at the deli with her daughter, and is believed to have had a cardiac issue.

CLIPPED BRAKE LINES

Revere Police are investigating a vandalism incident whereby the brake lines were cut on an employee’s car parked in the Necco parking lot.

Police were called around 11:50 p.m. on Sunday for a report of the vandalism.

A window had been broken on the car, but nothing was taken.

It was soon discovered, though, that the brake lines had been cut – which would have eventually rendered it impossible to stop once the car was moving.

It is under investigation.

TEEN ARRESTED IN MELEE

A 15-year-old was arrested last Thursday evening when he allegedly fought with and pulled a knife on two young people after football camp.

The suspect saw the two victims coming up from football camp in the parking lot of Revere High School around 7:38 p.m. Words were exchanged and the suspect threw a few punches that landed.

Witnesses said the suspect also pulled a knife on the two victims, but did not stab anyone.

That part of the story, however, is in dispute.

The 15-year-old was charged with assault by a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault and battery.

ARRESTED AFTER ALERTING

A teenager was arrested late Monday night, July 6, for fighting with police shortly after notifying them that his sister had taken a seizure on the sidewalk.

The young man’s sister apparently had a seizure on the sidewalk of the Parkway across from the Police Station. The young man ran directly to the station to alert police about what had happened, and then ran back to tend to his sister.

A crowd had gathered around and believed that the girl had been stabbed.

When police arrived, the young man became aggressive with police who were trying to treat the girl and assess the situation. He eventually got way out of control and police had to arrest him.

The 15-year-old was charged with rude and disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

UNRULY AND ARRESTED

A Central Avenue man was arrested early Saturday morning after leaving Volare Restaurant, but not wanting to call it a night.

The man was apparently intoxicated and began to fight with another intoxicated man. The suspect was told to leave, and he did leave the restaurant.

He, however, began walking up and down the street yelling and bothering the other patrons.

He did leave, but once across the street, began to yell and scream again.

Then he came back to the bar and left again.

Then he came back and yelled some more at the bar.

That’s when the police got involved.

Carlos Pereira, 34, of 87 Central Ave., was charged with rude and disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

CAME BACK FOR A FIGHT

Two East Boston men were arrested after being kicked out of the Squire Lounge and then returning later to allegedly fight the manager that kicked them out.

The two men were being rude and disorderly in the nude dancing club early Friday morning when they were asked to leave by security and by a police detail.

The two men left without incident, but they weren’t ready to let it go.

At closing time, around 2:30 a.m., the men waited in the parking lot until the manager came out of the club.

When he was outside, they emerged and challenged him to a fight.

He called the police and they quickly put an end to the situation.

Luis Urbaez, 30, of Eastie, and Jose Rodriguez, 21, of Eastie, were both charged with rude and disorderly conduct.
