Councillor Corey Abrams has apparently decided to resign from the city council because of an undiagnosed medical condition that has been affecting him. Abrams is undergoing hospital tests this week and made his decision to resign after consulting with members of his family.
Abrams was recently sworn in to replace the late Councillor Jim Kimmerle following his victory over three other candidates, including Richard Penta, who came in second.
According to the law, when Abrams resignation has been accepted and the seat is empty, a special election will be set by the city council to replace him.
Penta is likely to run once again for the seat.
