Boy Tennis Team Nets Another Win

The Revere High boys tennis won its second match of the season with a 5-0 whitewashing of Lynn Classical last Thursday in a match played at Winthrop High, which is serving as the home court for the Patriots this season.

Malak Mossadek, playing in the first singles spot, got the Pats off to a nice start with a victory in straight sets over his Classical counterpart, 6-2, 6-2. Mladen Pepic was a victor in the number two slot, 7-5, 6-1, and sophomore Nick Mucci captured his first varsity singles triumph with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 triumph at third singles.

The first doubles tandem of Joseph Tran and Pariwat Chaiwong, playing together for the first time, were easy winners, 6-2, 6-1. The Patriot duo at second doubles of Nick Tan and Soun Lee also won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.

Earlier in the week the Patriots had dropped a 4-1 decision to Gloucester. Pepic was the lone winner at his second singles slot, 6-4, 6-2, a position on the ladder to which he had been promoted for the first time with that match.

The second doubles tandem of Sela Leng and William Truong also played well despite coming up on the short end of a tough, three set match, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.

“The team played well in both matches,” said RHS head coach Mike Flynn. “We’re working hard and improving every day.”

Other members of the Patriots this season are: Walid Halty, Sinarith Kang, Chout Lumaj, Brian Monroy, Tim Mellen, Luis Morales, Doung Nguyen, Sonam Sherpa, Chira Prak, Anderson Vanegas, and Mekdad Elbehisi.

The boys traveled to Salem yesterday (Tuesday) and journey to Marblehead Friday and to Swampscott next Tuesday.
