Dorothy ‘Jean’ Calello-Lynch, 77

Retired receptionist

Dorothy “Jean” (Daly) Calello-Lynch of Winthrop died at the Massachusetts General Hospital on August 24. She was 77 years old.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a receptionist for the Progressive Credit Union.

She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Calello and the late William P. Lynch; devoted mother of Diane Calello of Winthrop, Paula Addivinola of Chelsea, and Jeannie Calello of Revere; step-mother of Caren Turner and her husband, Richie, of Peabody, Sandi Tierney and her husband, Kevin, of Danvers and William Lynch and his wife, Jill, of Salem; adored grandmother of Ryan and Mark McLean and Brianna Calello as well as several step-grandchildren. Born in Winthrop, she was the cherished daughter of the late John S. and Dorothy (Gaddis) Daly; sister of Barbara Fucillo and her husband, George, Alice Lally and her husband, Tom, all of Winthrop, John “Jack” Daly and his wife, Joan, of Malden, and the late Richard Daly and Arline R. Mason. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Mary Perrella, 76

Active in Revere Boy Scouting

Mary A. (Fullerton) Perrella of Danvers, formerly of Revere and East Boston, died August 23 at the Radius Health Care Nursing Center in Danvers after a long illness. She was 76 years old.

She was born in Boston on July 6, 1933, the daughter of the late David and Mary A. (Rush) Fullerton and was raised in East Boston graduating from East Boston High School.  She later lived in Revere for many years until moving to Danvers two years ago. While residing in Revere, she had been a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts and later was active with the Revere Boy Scouts organization.   She loved to read and was a nurturer to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was the loving mother of Robert and his wife, Pauline Perrella, of Plainfield, CT., Steven Perrella of Laconia, NH, Patricia and her husband, Greg Lehman, of Chambersburg, PA, Cheryl and her husband, John Cronin, of Beverly and Donna and her husband, George Justice, of Peabody, and is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the former wife of Vincent Perrella Jr.

A visitation will be held today, Wednesday, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. US Air Force (retired)

Paul J. Lally of Chelsea, formerly of Nahant and Lynn, died on August 23.

A retired member of the US Air Force, he was the beloved husband of Barbara (Rodgers) Capodilupo-Lally of Revere; son of Marion (Walker) Hobbs of Saugus; father of Stephen Lally, Paul J. Lally, Jr., Colleen Lally, Marion Lally, all of Lynn, James Lally of New Hampshire and the late Kathy Lally.

William Hill

Former Revere School Superintendent

William J. Hill of Revere died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 24.

The former superintendent of the Revere School system, he was Legislative Chairmen of the State, County and Municipal Retirement Association, former Mass State Representative and Past Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, past Exalted Ruler of the Revere Lodge of Elks and a graduate of Saint Anselm’s College.

He was the devoted and loving husband of Eleanor ( Cronan ) Hill with whom he shared 50 years of marriage; loving father of William J. Hill Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Rowley, Diane Hill and her husband, Gerry Hanley, of Quincy, Susan H. Griffin and her husband, Michael, of N. Reading, Michael Hill and his wife, Nancy, of Marblehead, Kevin Hill and his wife, Mary, of Swampscott and Maureen Buxton and her husband, Eric, of Georgetown; dear brother of Thomas Hill and his wife, Florence, Grace Sannella and her husband, Frederick, and Helen Hill, all of Revere, Audrey Cogliano and her husband, John of Westford and the late Mary Hill Cushing, Herbert S. Jr., James J., Kenneth and Pauline Hill. He was the cherished grandfather of 15 loving grandchildren and the brother in law of Carolan Hill.

Joseph Cahill Jr., 83

Telephone retiree

Joseph F. Cahill, Jr. of Middletown, DE died at his home on August 23. He was 83 years old.

Mr. Cahill was born and raised in Revere and was a US Navy veteran of World War II serving in the US Coast Guard. He retired from Diamond State Telephone Co. in 1985 after 38 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was also involved with many organizations within his community.

Mr. Cahill was the father of the late Pat, who died in 2002. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alice E.; six children, Kathy Lams and her husband, Michael, of Denton,TX, Joseph Cahill and his wife, Marie, of Newark, DE, Michael Cahill and his wife, Elizabeth, of New Castle, DE, Barbara Hahn and her husband, Bill, of Wilmington, Tim Cahill and his wife, Justine, of Townsend DE, and Chris Aiken of Middletown DE, as well as more than 40 grandchildren and great grandchildren, including two he raised, Pat and Scott Cahill. He is also survived by one sister, Helen Whall and her husband, William, of Melvin Village, NH.

Revere resident

Alfred W. Landano of Revere died on August 23.

A veteran of World War II, he was the beloved husband of the late Anna (Marchese) Landano; devoted father of Diane Barry and her husband, Robert, of Mansfield, Alfred J. Landano and his wife, Karen, of Fryeburg, ME; dear brother of Eleanor Schiavone, Dolores Breda and the late Clara Rocha, Theresa DiMauro, Gloria Forte, Gerald, Michael and Joseph Landano and Janet Hames. He is also survived by five loving grandchildren, Jennifer, Marianne, Christopher, Alana and Nick.

Judith Scimone

Papa Gino’s General Manager and former hairdresser

Judith (Rodgers) Scimone of New Hampshire, a former long time resident of Revere, died of Leukemia at St. Joseph’s Hospital, NH surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was diagnosed with Leukemia in Mid-May.

Born in Lowell, the daughter of Raymond and Hazel (Foote) Rodgers, she was a hairdresser for many years at Salon Cra’Lis on Beach Street before a mid-life career change when she rose to the position of General Manager with Papa Gino’s Corporation, a position she loved.

She spent much of her retirement enjoying her family, her pets and, of course, her love of Jesus. She particularly enjoyed saying the rosary and praying to the Blessed Mother. She enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun, arts and crafts and Bingo. Her laughter was contagious and she will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all.

She leaves a son, Frank Napolitano of New Hampshire, a daughter Jodi Hunt of Lynn and siblings, Beverly D’Ambrosio of East Boston, Barbara Capodilupo-Lally of Revere, Carol Daley of Billerica, Sandra Lishin of Revere, Dave Rodgers of Taunton and Bob Rodgers of Florida as well as many nieces and nephews.

Robert Carter

Former MBTA employee, Carmen’s Union member and avid golfer

Robert A. Carter of Malden died on August 23 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers.

He was a former employee of the MBTA, a member of the Carmen’s Union and an avid golfer who played regularly at the Colonial Country Club and at Cedar Glenn.

Born in Boston, the son of the late Clarence and Rose (Giacobelli) Carter, he was the beloved father of Robin LoConte and her husband, Christopher, of Lynnfield and the late Robert K. Carter; loving grandfather of Nicholas and Robert LoConte and dear brother of Joseph “Duke” Carter of Groveland.

Margaret Erban, 86

East Boston resident

Margaret Erban of 30 Gove St., East Boston, died at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She was 86 years old.

She was born in Beirut, Lebanon on March 1, 1923 and was educated there.

She was the wife of the late Salim Erban and is survived by her son, Sam Erban. Services and burial were held in Andover.

Elena D’Addario, 92

East Boston resident

Elena R. (Cervizzi) D’Addario of East Boston died on August 23. She was in her 92nd year.

She was the beloved wife of the late Mario D’Addario with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; loving mother of Elizabeth Coolidge and her husband, Roscoe, of Melrose; dear sister of Marie Hyland of Webster, MA, Bernard Cervizzi of Maine and the late Anna Yanelli, Pasquale, Domenic, Vincent and Victor Cervizzi; cherished grandmother of Michelle Bettano and her husband, Kenneth, Donna Leigh Coolidge Miller and her husband, Brian and Lisa Ellis and her husband, Eric, and great grandchildren, Danielle, Carly, Elizabeth, Dante and Mia.

Joseph Fassi, 80

Master Gardener, member of ITAM, active volunteer and veteran of two wars

Joseph N. Fassi of Chelsea, formerly of Revere, died on August. 20. He was 80 years old.

A US Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Revere ITAM Post, a master gardener and a member of Mass Horticultural Society, N.E. Rose Society, N.E. Chapter of the Gesneriad Society and the American Epiphylum Society. “Joe” was a long time volunteer at the Greenhouse at the Brockton VA Hospital, working with disabled veterans.

He was the husband of the late Anna (Testa); devoted father of Eugene S. Fassi and his wife, Annmarie, of Orlando, FL, Judith A. Dennison and her husband, Arlen, of Bradford, Joseph S. and Robert G. Fassi, both of Ossippee, NH, Stephen A. Fassi and his wife, Stacey, of Londonderry, NH and Charles J. Fassi and his wife, Jodie, of Goffstown, NH; dear brother of Nicholas Fassi of Revere and the late Anthony; cherished grandfather of Gina Withem, Crystal and Toni Fassi, Derik and Dylan Dennison and Janelle Fassi. He is also lovingly survived by his two great grandsons, Christopher Fassi and Daniel Withem.

Karl Stutzenberger Jr., 75

Retired Chemical Technician

Karl H. Sultzenberger Jr. of Marshfield died on August 20. He was 75 years old.

He was born in Charleston, SC, and lived in Marshfield for 44 years. He was a retired Chemical Technician for National Research Co.

He was the beloved husband of Roberta B. (Flattes); dear father of Tobey Ainooson of Brockton, Angela Gordon of Revere, Beverly Stutzenberger of Lynn, William Bates of California, Karl H. Stutzenberger III of Plymouth, Lynn Delvalle of New Hampshire and Lisa Sabasteanski of Minnesota and is also survived by l7 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Anita Stutzenberger of South Carolina and the late Frederick Stutzenberger.

A US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was the beloved husband of Marion M. Lois E. MacDonald died unexpectedly in Oak Island, Revere, on August 19. She was 50 years old.

She was the cherished daughter of David I. and Dorothy E. (Sokoloski) MacDonald of Revere and sister of the late David MacDonald. She also leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also lovingly survived by her devoted friend, Charles E. Muise, of Revere.

Retired Master Mechanic

Harold “Hal” White of Revere died on August 18. He was 79 years old.

A US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the Merchant Marines and a retired master mechanic in the trucking industry.

Born in New York, the son of the late Harold and Katherine (Jobrinski) White, he was the beloved husband of Victoria “Gloria” (DiMonte); devoted father of Kenneth White and his wife, Emily, of Chelmsford and Karen Graham and her husband, Thomas, of Revere; dear brother of Anna Marie Shank of New York and is also survived by one loving granddaughter, Katherine Graham.

A member of the East Boston Trampers, he was the cherished son of the late Patrick J. and Rosemarie (Gelati) Giusti-Giagle; dear father of Jessica Gordon of New York; life companion of Toni Ann Tritto of East Boston; dear brother of Marcia of Swampscott; adored grandfather of DJ and fond uncle of Vincent, Christian and Meghan Giagle and his dogs, “Jo Jo” and the late “John John.”

Catherine Penza, 92

Florida resident, ‘Everyone’s Mother’

Catherine M. Penza of Tamarac, Florida, died on August 14. She was 92 years old.

Born in Revere, the eldest of 10 children of the late Joseph and Theresa DeLena of Revere, she grew up during the Great Depression and was forced to leave school in the eighth grade to help her large family financially. She worked as a meat wrapper for the A&P when her children entered Jr. High School and was an extraordinary homemaker. Her cooking skills were superlative as she served family and friends. Everyone she met felt that she was “their” mother. She was a most loving, caring, sensitive and intelligent woman who cannot ever be replaced. She impacted everyone she ever met, including her caretakers at the end.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Frederick Penza of Andover; her daughter, Susan Scanlon of Surprise, AZ; her brothers, Frank DiLena of Revere, Jerry Delena of Revere, Joseph DeLena of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Richard DeLena of Medford, Robert DeLena of Melrose and her sister, Gloria MacDonald of Lynn; her grandchildren, Shawn Scanlon of Pleasanton, CA and Scarlett Harrigan of Elk Grove, CA; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Madison, Rylee and Jordyn; six nieces and 13 nephews. She was the wife of the late Alfred Penza of Sunrise, FL; sister of the late Louis DeLena of Medford, Ronald DeLena of Boca Raton, FL and Rose Marotta of Revere.

Leonard P. McArron of Lynnfield, formerly of Revere, died on August 17.

He was the husband of Angelina “Ann” (Rodophele) McArron and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of five late siblings.
