Retirement at Paul Revere

Longtime Paul Revere School Principal Nick Quarantiello will retire at the end of this year according to Superintendent Paul Dakin.

The well-liked principal will, unfortunately, retire one year prior to the new Paul Revere School being completed.

Dakin said he wouldn’t hire a replacement for Quarantiello for the 2009-2010 school year, leaving the school (temporarily located at Beachmont School) without a principal until it moves into its new digs in September 2010.

For the time being, he said Beachmont School Principal Rosemarie O’Connor would “look in” on the Paul Revere.

“I think that’s where critical thinking is a necessity,” he said.

Also retiring will be Karen Agnetta, director of fine arts. Agnetta has been responsible for many new arts programs in the schools, most notably the annual March on the Arts at the Comfort Inn.

Her position will also go unfilled.

Finally, Isminy “Izzy” Ruberto, long-time school administration and School Committee secretary, retired at the end of last week.

Her position will also go unfilled.
