City councillors unanimously pushed an eminent domain taking proposal to a public hearing at Monday night’s Council meeting.
Mayor Tom Ambrosino is pushing a plan that would take Beachmont Avenue to allow for the state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to build a new set of stairs to Rocky Beach.
Neighbors voted unanimously last summer to put the stairs in that location. The other option was on Winthrop Parkway, across from the MDC park.
There is opposition on the Council, and there has been more than 50 years worth of tusseling in the neighborhood.
