The Kearsarge Lodge of Odd Fellows is in Swampscott, just stone’s throw from Revere, and is the lodge of choice for many Revere residents. The Odd Fellows are widely known for their community service and generosity. Reaching out to many community events and programs to lend a hand, whether physically or financially.
This week, Kearsarge Lodge reached out to the Revere Society for Historical Preservation (RHCHP) and Revere Veteran’s Services, offering financial relief for some of their many community programs. The RSCHP offers a museum, featuring the history of Revere in many aspects, including their new exhibit Hometown Rocks. The RSCHP also has the Rumney Marsh Burial Ground under its financial responsibilities too. It takes money to keep the building in safe and attractive condition, allowing locals and visitors to enjoy our rich history.
The Revere Veteran’s Services Department covers a lot of ground for our nation’s heroes and/or their families. Offering emergency services to veterans in need, as well as guidance getting their well-deserved benefits from the state or federal agencies. Coats for veteran’s children, toys at Christmas for veteran’s children. There are many other services this department offers and more. One very important one, that affects over 100 veteran families a month, is the monthly food pantry. Volunteers make this a success every month, but what you can’t get is bags, that takes money. That’s 2 bags, per person filled with groceries, every month.
Today Kearsarge Lodge stepped up and donated 500 dollars to the RSCHP and their programs, and 800 dollars to Revere Veterans Services to purchase bags for their food program.
Donations are always accepted for bags, no matter what the amount, a little does go a long way to help a deserving veteran.
