RHS Girls Track Undefeated at 4–0

The Revere High girls outdoor track and field team remained undefeated at 4-0 with a 93-41 victory over Greater Boston League (GBL) rival Lynn English last Tuesday at Harry Della Russo Stadium.

Liv Yuong and Ashley Cabrera Rodriguez were the top scorers for the Lady Patriots with 15 points and three first-place performances each.

Liv won the high jump with a leap of 4′-6″, the long jump with a flight of 15′-9.75″, and the 100 hurdles in a clocking of 18.0, while Ashley captured the triple jump with a final landing of 32′-2″, the 400 hurdles with a clocking of 1:20.3, and the 200 dash with a sprint of 29.7.

A number of other Lady Patriots won their respective events: Camila Echeverri in the discus with a toss of 58′-9″; Luisa Khorsi in the 400 dash in a time of 1:12.3; Gemma Stamatopoulos in the 800 in 2:51.8; Sara Sbai in the mile in 6:24.3; and Valeria Supulveda in the two-mile run with a time of 15:09.5.

Contributing three points to the winning effort were: Marwa Riad in the long jump (13′-4″) and the 400 dash (1:13.1); Basma Sahibi in the triple jump (24′-3); Francoise Kodjo in the shot-put (24′-9″); Sandra Torres in the discus (55′-9″); Jocelyn Lazo in the javelin (67′-9″); Hiba El Bzouy in the 400 hurdles (1:26.8) and the 800 (3:08.8); Yara Belguendouz in the 100 hurdles (20.3); and Giselle Salvador in the 100 dash (14.5); 

Adding single points with third-place performances were: Jaliyah Manigo in the high jump (4′-2″); Bella Stamatopoulos in the javelin (56′-8″); Basma Sahibi in the 400 hurdles (1:29.5);   Giselle Salvador in the 400 dash (1:13.7); Reyhan Bensadok in the 800 (3:11.2);  and Rocio Gonzalez in the mile (6:36.2);

Coach Racquel MacDonald and her crew are scheduled to host GBL foe Medford tomorrow (Thursday) at HDR and will travel to GBL rival Chelsea next Thursday.

RHS Boys Track Tops English, 97–33

The Revere High boys outdoor track and field team cruised to a 97-33 triumph over Greater Boston League (GBL) rival Lynn English last Tuesday at Harry Della Russo Stadium.

Isaiah DeCrosta and Eric Mayorga Jr. were the leading point-scorers for the Patriots, winning two events each to score 10 points.

Isaiah captured the high jump with a leap of 5′-0″ and the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.9. Erick won the long jump with a leap of 16′-4.5″ and the javelin with a throw of 103′-9″.

Other first-place winners for Revere were: Gabriel Santana in the shot-put with a throw of 37′-0″; Abbas Atoui in the discus with a spin of 87′-8″; Carlos Jimenez in the 400 hurdles with a clocking of 1:17.7; Allen Hou in the 100 dash with a sprint of 11.7;  JV Cunha in the 200 with a dash of 23.6; Edwin Alarcon in the 400 dash in 60.5; and Kenan Batic in the 800 in 2:15.3.

Earning three points for the Patriots with second-place performances were: Felipe Maia in the triple jump (34′-9″); Carlos Jimenez in the javelin (93′-11″); Samuel Burns in the 400 hurdles (1:17.7); Rayan Elmzabi in the 400 dash (65.3); Mohammed Faras in the 800 (2:32.8); Youness Chahid in the mile (4:58.6, which was just 0.3 behind the English first-place finisher); Abbas Atoui in the 200 dash (25.6); and Youcef Amari in the two-mile (14:40.2).

Contributing single points to the winning effort with third-place finishes were: Sami El Asri in the triple jump (34′-6″); Walter Rodriguez in the shot-put (32′-8″); Nicholas Aguirre in the discus (74′-4″); Jake Tiburcio in the javelin (73′-7″); Carlos Jimenez in the 110 hurdles (21.3); Kepler Celamy in the 400 dash (66.9); Yamen Ismail in the 800 (3:12.6); and Adam Assour in the mile (5:25).

The Patriots also earned victories in both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays.

Revere is scheduled to host GBL foe Medford tomorrow (Thursday) at HDR and will travel to GBL rival Chelsea next Thursday.

RHS Boys Volleyball Remains Undefeated in GBL

The Revere High boys volleyball team remained undefeated in the Greater Boston League (GBL) with a 3-0 victory over Lynn Classical last Wednesday.

Christyan Berger provided 31 assists for his Patriot teammates. Ruben Rodriguez led the Revere offensive attack with 17 kills and Alex Serrano Taborda totaled 11 kills.

Last Thursday the Patriots came out on the short end of a 3-0 decision to non-league foe O’Bryant High, which is ranked #3 in the state. Revere battled well, as evidenced by the set scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 25-23.

“We really competed hard to match the strengths of O’Bryant,” noted RHS head coach Lianne Mimmo. .

Berger earned 26 assists. Serrano-Taborda (11 kills), Rodriguez (10 kills, seven digs), Sami Welsh (four kills, three blocks), and Isaac Portillo (six digs) all made significant contributions for Revere.

Mimmo and her crew are scheduled to play at GBL foe Medford today (Wednesday) and will travel to non-league opponent Winchester on Friday. They will play at Chelsea on Monday and host Malden next Wednesday.

Boys Lacrosse Tops Mystic Valley, 10-3

The Revere High boys lacrosse team earned its first victory of the season with a 10-3 triumph over Mystic Valley last week.

Cam Wickens paced the Patriot offense with five goals and seven ground balls. Matt Lacroix made a huge contribution to the winning effort with three goals, an assist, 10 ground balls, and 15 face-off wins. Walid Harda reached the back of the MV net for two goals and picked up two ground balls.

Tin Deo earned an assist and scooped four ground balls and Guillermo Menjivar made three assists and picked up four ground balls.

“It was great to see the team work together and come away with their first win,” said RHS head coach Zach McDannell.

In a contest with Malden last week, the Patriots fell in a hard-fought, defensive battle, 7-4. The goal scorers for Revere were Lacroix with two goals and Wickens and Guillermo Menjivar with a goal apiece.

In a 17-1 loss to Bishop Fenwick this past Monday, yesterday, Wickens scored the Revere goal and Menjivar earned the assist.

McDannell and his crew travel to Swampscott on Friday and will host Malden next Tuesday at Harry Della Russo Stadium at 4:00. They will travel to Salem next Wednesday.

Two Victories for RHS Girls Tennis

The Revere High girls tennis team earned a pair of victories over Greater Boston League (GBL) rivals this past week.

In a 3-2 win over Everett, senior Tenzin Chime won her match at first singles in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-0. At second singles, junior Lesly Calderon Lopez handily defeated her Everett counterpart in straight sets, 6-2. 6-0. At first doubles, the duo of Jaimy Gomez and Ivana Nguyen triumphed in straight sets, 6-1 6-2.

Coach Carla Maniscalco’s crew also defeated GBL foe Lynn Classical last Wednesday by a score of 3-2.

Senior Christy Ly won her match at third singles, 6-1, 6-3. At first doubles, the tandem of Lesly Calderon Lopez and Ivana Nguyen won their match in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. The second doubles team of Jaimy Gomez and Rachel Sanchez also prevailed in three sets, 3-6 6-4, 7-5.

This past Monday, the Lady Patriots came up short in a 3-2 decision to Lynn English. Sophomore Dayna Phan won her match at second singles, 7-6, 7-5, and Ly defeated her English counterpart at third singles, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

RHS Girls Lacrosse Edges Salem, 3-2

The Revere High girls lacrosse team earned a 3-2 victory at Salem last Friday. Jayla Foster, Lynberlee Leng, and Mariah Rogers scored the goals for the Lady Patriots.

Revere dropped a 12-2 decision to Medford this past Monday in which Foster and Mariana Tamayo recorded the goals.

Coach Amy Rotger and her crew host Somerville today (Wednesday) at Harry Della Russo Stadium at 4:00. They will travel to Northeast Regional on Friday and to Stoneham on Monday. They will return to HDR next Wednesday to host Somerville at 4:00.

RHS Boys Tennis Continues To Improve

Although the Revere High boys tennis team engaged in a competitive match with Lynn English this past Monday, the Patriots came up short by a score of 4-1.

Moises Alfaro played very well at second singles to win his match, 6-3, 6-3.

At first singles, Alec Waxer played a strong LE foe in a 6-2, 6-3 loss. At third singles, Nick Aguilar battled hard before falling in three sets 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.

At first doubles, the duo of Raihan Ahmed and Vincent Phan also played a very competitive match before falling in three sets, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2. The tandem of Shamus Duffey and Nick Barry played well in a 6-2, 6-3 loss.

“The team is really improving and getting better with each match,” said RHS coach Mike Flynn.

RHS Girls Softball Comes Up Short, 25–24

The Revere High girls softball team engaged in a true barn-burner with East Boston last week, but came up short by a score of 25-24,

Leading the Revere offensive barrage were: Freshman Shayna Smith, who was 4-for-6 at the plate; Lea Doucette, who was 2-for-6; senior captain Arianna Keohane, who went 3-for-6 and who made a great catch in left field; freshman Frankie Reed, who was 3-for-6, including a solid double late in the game; Brianna Miranda, who came through with a big hit in the sixth to keep the inning alive; sophomore Jordan Martell, who has had a hot bat all season; and senior Captain Emma Cassinello, who belted her first career homer, a two-run blast over the fence.

Defensively, junior shortstop Riley Straccia vacuumed everything that was hit up the middle and freshman Danni Randall made some great outfield plays. ,

“Isabella Qualteri pitched a great game, but East Boston brought their bats,” said RHS head coach Megan O’Donnell.

The Revere JV team and coach Rivera defeated East Boston, 17-10, for their third win of the season.

O’Donnell and her crew host Medford today (Wednesday) and play at O’Bryant on Friday. They will entertain Chelsea on Monday and travel to Malden next Wednesday.

RHS Baseball Hosts Malden Next Wednesday

The Revere High baseball team will entertain Greater Boston League (GBL) rival Malden next Wednesday afternoon (May 10). The Patriots, who are coming off a win over Chelsea on Saturday after losses to Somerville and Lynn English earlier in the week, are scheduled to play at GBL foe Medford today (Wednesday) and at non-league opponent East Boston Sunday morning at 11:00.
