Roger C. Giglio

He was loved by his family, respected by his peers, and revered in his community

Family and friends attended a visitation on Tuesday, July 28 for Roger C. Giglio, who was stricken while at home on Sunday, July 19th and later passed at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, Roger just celebrated his 85th birthday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Roger was a proud lifelong resident of Revere. He was born on June 12th,1941 in Winthrop and was one of three children raised and educated in Revere. He was educated at the Immaculate Conception School and was a graduate of the Class of 1959. Roger would go on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in Finance, then his MBA at Boston University. He was also a U.S. Army National Guard Reservist for a brief time, fulfilling his military obligation honorably. He worked for the Honeywell Corporation for over 25 years, in the accounting division and then later took a position with the VA in Bedford for 15 years before retiring.

During this time, Roger married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Maryanne Hegarty. They were soulmates since they were teenagers, and they finally married on January 15, 1999. Together Roger and Maryanne traveled. They had a yearly trip to Bar Harbor, Maine that they cherished. Roger was also very active, playing tennis and hiking at the Breakheart Reservation. He loved family gatherings and especially was known for getting the kids riled up and then leaving the gathering. He was a member of a stock club that he and several friends formed and enjoyed playing the stock market

Roger was a well-known volunteer at the Saugus United Parish Food Pantry – Cliftondale Congregational Church in Saugus, for many years and had many friends there as well. He was dedicated to his family, especially his parents, and he was a man of great faith. He was a communicant at both the Immaculate Conception Church and St. Anthony of Padua Church.

He made friends everywhere he went, and his charming and witty personality allowed it to be second nature. Roger was loved by his family, respected by his peers, and revered in his community. He will be forever missed.

The beloved husband of 27 years to Maryanne (Hegarty) Giglio of Revere, he was the beloved son of the late Roger A. Giglio and Ann (Reppucci) Giglio, the cherished brother of Joyce C. Blais and her husband, Donald and the late Carl D. Giglio; the treasured uncle of Laura West and her husband, John of Litchfield, New Hampshire, Christie Giglio of Derry, New Hampshire, Michael Blais and his wife, Ali of Seattle, Washington, Jacqueline and her husband. Andre Hellesviko Holland and Carolyn M. Blais – Pinter and her husband, Stephen Pinter of Cambridge. He is also lovingly survived by many grand nieces, grandnephews, and many cousins.
