Revere High junior Hanley Aristhene recorded the first dunk of his basketball career during the second half of the junior varsity game against Arlington Catholic Friday night at the Roland Merullo Fieldhouse.

Aristhene, a 6-foot-3-inch forward, broke away from the pack for a two-handed slam after soaring through the lane and skying above the rim.

Aristhene’s dunk highlighted Revere’s 58-52 win over Arlington Catholic in the season opener.

The play impressed Hanley’s coach, John Leone.

“It was exciting to see the play unfold and Hanley throw it down,” said Leone.

Hanley said he had dunked in a game during the summer on the Harry Della Russo Stadium basketball courts, but never in a regular season high school game.

Hanley said his goal is to be promoted to the varsity team this season.

“That’s my goal, that’s what I’m working to do,” said Hanley, who finished with 13 points in the season opener.
