“We have been trying to nail down a formation that puts our players in a place for success. This is something we have to adjust to as a team on a game-by-game basis. Our success comes with communication and being disciplined enough to commit to our assigned zones on the field. We are excited and looking forward to some challenging competitors in the D-3 state tournament.”

Strong showing for RHS girls at GBL Meet
The Revere High girls cross-country team turned in a strong performance in the Greater Boston League (GBL) Championship Meet last Wednesday at Medford’s Torbert Macdonald Park along the banks of the Mystic River.
The Lady Patriots tied Somerville and Medford for the GBL’s dual-meet championship, with all three schools compiling 6-1 records. Revere’s lone loss came to Somerville by a point in the season-opener.
“It was a tight race,” said RHS head coach Katie Sinnott. “We knew we would need to really tough it out for the championship race win. Medford took first and second places, but Somerville had a tight pack with five runners finishing in the top 14.
“That was too hard to beat,” Sinnott continued. “Somerville took the race, and we came in third. Despite that, the girls individually ran amazingly. Olivia Rupp, Valeria Quintero, Rania Hamdani, and Daniela Santana Baez all broke their personal race-pace records
“This is exactly what you want to do – run your fastest at the end of the season,” Sinnott added. “Additionally, Olivia and Valeria earned league All Star Medals, with Olivia finishing 3rd and Valeria finishing 8th. Rania missed an All Star spot (which is awarded to the top 10 runners) by a mere three seconds.
“The girls gave the race everything they had and I am so proud of this team. We may be a small team, but we have a lot of heart,” said Sinnott.
The Lady Patriots will compete in the Frank Mooney State Coaches Invitational this Saturday (November 2) and in the State Divisional Race next Saturday (November 9).

Olivia Rupp – 3rd overall – 17:57
