Longtime MSP Communications Director David Procopio joins Regan Communications as VP/Managing Editor

Regan Communications Group, New England’s largest privately-held strategic communications firm and seventh largest in the United States, is pleased to announce the hiring of David Procopio as Vice President and Managing Editor. Mr. Procopio brings decades of government media relations, civilian public relations, and journalism experience to his new role and a track record of success in leading high-performance teams that consistently deliver stellar results. In his new position, Mr. Procopio will report directly to Chief Operating Officer Mark Lund and will be an important part of the Regan leadership team, building out the firm’s strategy and brand.

Mr. Procopio most recently served as Media Communications Director for the Massachusetts State Police, spending sixteen years there. In that role, he served as the Department’s chief spokesperson and public information officer, and led the Office of Media Relations, which provides information about criminal enforcement, public safety, and Department operations to local, national, and international media outlets, and the public. Mr. Procopio also oversaw the State Police’s active social media presence and created the agency’s news blog, mspnews.org. Mr. Procopio led communications for the agency under seven State Police Colonels and three Governors.

Prior to becoming the first civilian spokesperson in Massachusetts State Police history, Mr. Procopio served as a Vice President for Regan Communications Group, where he led a team that handled public relations for business and nonprofit clients.

From October 2001 through June 2006, Mr. Procopio served as Press Secretary for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in Boston. In that position, he served as spokesperson for District Attorneys Ralph Martin and Daniel Conley.
