RHS Alum, Amy Rotger, Takes Over the Helm of RHS Girls’ Lacrosse Team

As the school year ends, Revere High’s sports teams are finishing up their first full season since the pandemic closed schools and limited athletics in 2020. However, one of the sports showing an impressive season was the RHS Lady Patriots’ Lacrosse team under first year coach and RHS alum Amy Rotger.

The team put up an 8-11 record under the RHS alum including winning the GBL championship. Despite winning their league, the team did not qualify for the tournament because they did not have a 500 record.

Rotger, a 2013  graduate of Revere High School, was a varsity athlete in basketball, soccer, lacrosse and softball at RHS. A captain and all-star for RHS lacrosse, Amy went on to play lacrosse at Framingham State for four years.

Rotger, also in her fifth year of teaching as a third grade teacher at the Whelan School, was pleased with her first season. “I was really proud of how the team came together and worked together as a team. I especially enjoyed watching the kids improve over the course of the season. I also was thankful for the hard work of my assistant coach, Paolo Ortez, who I also played with at Revere High School.”

RPS Athletic Director Frank Shea was pleased with Rotger’s first year. “Amy was a pleasant surprise and under her the program looks promising.”

When Coach Rotger is not teaching or coaching, she enjoys spending time with her family including her aunt and uncle, longtime Point of Pines residents Ron (a current candidate for Ward 5 City Councillor) and Lynn Clarke, her twin sister, Allison, and her 6-year-old Yorkie/Shitzhu Gracie.
