James Martin

Longtime Owner of Martin’s Autobody of Lynn

James W. Martin, 88, of Saugus, died on Tuesday afternoon, January 18 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.  He was the husband of Jean (Ciarletta) Martin and the late A. Marcia (Robertson) Martin.

Born and raised in Revere, he was the son of the late Henry and Lillian (Ege) Martin.   A U.S. Navy veteran, James “Big Jim” Martin owned and operated Martin’s Autobody in Lynn for many years.  He enjoyed boating, working around his house, and spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his five children; Melinda Gagnon and her husband, Richard of Maine, Cathy Ciociolo and her husband, Robert of Florida, James Martin Jr. and his wife, Maureen of Saugus, Lori Gordon and her husband, George of New Hampshire, Pattye Griffin and her husband, Thomas of Peabody, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  Mr. Martin was predeceased by his siblings: Gertrude Sidebottom, Lorraine Palm, and Clara Schmidt.

Joseph Michael DellOrfano

Joseph Michael Dell-
Orfano,  originally from Revere now living in Tewkesbury, passed away on Wednesday, January 19.

The son of the late Joseph C. DellOrfano and Rita Mima (Casali) DellOrfano of Revere, Joe is survived by his three children: Joseph DellOrfano Jr. of Revere, Stacy DellOrfano of Lynn, Elaine DellOrfano Jr. of Revere; his three beloved grandchildren: Joseph, Michael and Aleesa of Revere, his sister, Debra Paul of Londonderry, NH, his Great Aunt Mabel (Casali) Oakley of Sun Valley, CA, and his former wife, Elaine DellOrfano of Revere.

A college baseball player and Revere High School star athlete himself, Joe loved going to his grandchildren’s sports games to cheer them on.

Joe worked at Polaroid for 30 years and always an athlete, he played sandlot baseball and softball for Polaroid.

Connie Pace

Devoted Wife, Mother and Homemaker

Connie J. (Amato) Pace, 89, of Low Street, Newburyport, formerly of Revere, passed away on Monday, January 17.

The wife of the late Joseph R. Pace, she  was born in Boston on December 31, 1932, the daughter of the late Filipa Amato. 

Concetta was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker to her family. 

She is survived by two sons, Robert J. Pace and Richard D. Pace, Sr., and his wife, Deborah; grandsons, Joseph R. Pace and his wife, Jillian and Richard D. Pace Jr. and his fiancé, Caliegh Holden; granddaughter, Veronica Montes and her husband, Antonio and her great-grandson, Nico Montes. She was predeceased by her daughter, Annmarie Porcella.

Edna Charlotte Staub

A True Seeker of Knowledge and New Experiences

Edna Charlotte (Edwards) Staub, 93, passed away peacefully after enjoying many chapters of a long and beautiful life.

A true seeker of knowledge and new experiences, Edna would recruit anyone to go anywhere at a moment’s notice. She loved to engage in all of life’s opportunities and looked at everything as an adventure.

Graduating from Revere High School and having a deep love of Revere Beach, she devoted a chapter of her life raising 10 children in Revere, spending every summer on the beach.

Then she embarked on her own management career at Verizon before retiring after 20 years and enrolling in college. Having helped all her children graduate with a college degree, she was able to accomplish a personal goal by graduating from college with a double major at the age of 70 and on the Dean’s list! Edna embraced all that was special in everyone she met. She strove for excellence in herself and recognized it in others before they did. A wonderful woman who will be missed by many who thought of her as mom and friend.

Edna was born in Boston, the daughter of Ernest and Christina (McKinley) Edwards and beloved wife to Leo, who passed in 2008 after a 59 year marriage.

She was a loving mother to:   Susan Wilhelm of Marion, Ohio, Mary Whelton of Wrentham, Xavier Staub (Geraldine Louise Trembly) of Waianae, HI, Paul (Julia) Staub of Dracut, Timothy (Debbie) Staub of Boxford, Joseph (Danette) Staub of Saugus, Christopher (Shelly) Staub of Aventura, FL, Janet (Raymond) Mirabella of Poland, ME, Theodore (Cathy) Staub of Flagler Beach, FL and Daniel (Susan) Staub of Lynn.

Edna is also survived by 24 loving grandchildren and 21 sweet great-grandchildren.

Maureen Souza

Longtime Employee of the Revere Elder Affairs Office and Member of the Red Hat Society

Maureen L. (Montesanti) Souza of N. Andover, formerly of Revere, died on January 18.

Maureen worked for the City of Revere Elder Affairs Office for many years, where she organized social gatherings and day trips enhancing the lives of Revere’s seniors. Maureen was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

The devoted daughter of the late Harding and Albertina (Paglierani) Montesanti, the beloved wife of the late Augustine “Gus”, loving mother of Bonnie Fillippi and her husband, Christopher of N. Andover and Jason Souza and his wife, Nicolle of Merrimack, NH; cherished grandmother of Ella Maureen Fillippi, Paige Souza, and Lilly Souza and is also survived by many loving cousins.

Susan L. Coppola

October 23, 1960 – January 13, 2022

Susan (Colarusso) Coppola of Denver, Colorado, formerly of the Beachmont section of Revere, passed away after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 13.

She was 61 years old.

On October 23, 1960, Susan was born in Malden to the late John and Dorothy (Mageary) Colarusso. In 1965, her family moved from Lynn to Revere. She was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1978. She resided in Beachmont for 55 years before moving to Denver, Colorado last year.

Susan most recently enjoyed working as a crossing guard for the City of Revere and simultaneously volunteered as a Literacy Coach for Generations, Inc. She volunteered many years for numerous causes and organizations such as the Beachmont Youth Association, Revere Pop Warner, Women for Revere and she helped organize block parties held at the Louis Pasteur Park. Susan also worked and volunteered on many political campaigns in the City of Revere. She had a heart of gold. Her door was always open to everyone she encountered and she gave whenever possible.

 Her favorite activities were collecting sea glass, cooking, listening to music, traveling and spending time with her grandson.

Susan was the beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Coppola until his unexpected death in 2006, devoted mother of Jonathan Coppola of Revere, Michael Coppola, Casey Coppola and her fiance, Terrance Ellis and cherished grandmother of Joseph Ellis, all of Denver, Colorado and dear sister of Dennis Fournier and his wife, Donna of Manchester, NH. Susan leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and dear friends.

Continuing with her giving ways, Susan donated her body to scientific research to further medical education. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, 670 Washington Avenue, Revere, MA 02151. All are welcome to attend.

Susan’s family is immensely thankful for the expressions of sympathy, support, and comfort provided.

John C. Annese

Led a Full and Active Life

John C. Annese passed away at his home on Saturday evening, Jan 22. 2022. he was 84 years old.  John was born, raised, and educated in Revere.  He was the son of the late Carmen and Bradie Annese.    John led a full and active life and had many interests.  Among them was hunting, golfing and his love of fishing on his boat.  He was also a longtime member of the Minuteman Gun Club in Burlington where he enjoyed skeet shooting and participated in many tournaments.    John also enjoyed making and flying model airplanes.    John was always involved in some type of activity, always had a project going on and was good at whatever he did. John was the beloved husband of 54 years of Rosemarie “Marie” (D’Angelo).    Brother of the late Gerald Annese.  Uncle of Michael Annese & his wife Ellen of Saugus.  Brother-in-law of Madeline Daly & her late husband Peter of Burlington, Philip D’Angelo of Watertown, Charlotte D’Angelo of Watertown, Richard Cruciani of Southborough and the late Dolores Cruciani and Frances D’Angelo, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Friday, Jan. 28 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 851 Main St., Woburn at Noon.  A private burial will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.  The family asks that masks be worn at the visitation and the funeral mass.  In lieu of flowers memorials in John’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org
