Elizabeth “Betty” Moynihan

The center of her life and heart was family

Family and friends attended visiting hours on Tuesday, September 7 in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt.107) Revere for Elizabeth “Betty” (Page) Moynihan, 88, who died peacefully after a brief illness on August 31, Visiting hours were followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Revere and interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Everett.

Betty was a Revere native, a proud alumna of the Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1951 and a late member of the Red Hats.

A devoted mother and homemaker, she  married John P. Moynihan in 1965 and the couple settled in Everett where they raised their family. Family was the center of her life and heart. She dearly loved her children. She found an even deeper love and affection when she became a grandmother and great grandmother.

Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband and taking many cruises to different ports around the world. In her younger days growing up in Revere, Betty was once crowned “Roller Skating Champion” at Wonderland, something she was very proud of. She was an avid fan of Jeopardy and enjoyed her crossword puzzles. Both Betty and her husband enjoyed dancing, especially line dancing and dining out. She was a true matriarch of her family, she demonstrated love and importance of family every day.

The beloved wife of 56 years to John P. Moynihan of Everett, she was the loving mother of Diane M. Murray and her husband, Edward of Peabody, Paul J. Moynihan and his wife, Janet of Wilmington, Richard F. Shuman and his wife, Eileen of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Maryhelen Shuman–Groh and her husband, Stephen of Clearwater, FL and John S. Moynihan and his partner, Thomas Lee of Boston; treasured grandmother of Meghan A. Sencabaugh and her husband, Daniel of Peabody, Cate Shuman and her fiancé, Keith of Lewis Center, OH, Elizabeth “Betsy” Shuman of Conway, SC and the late Kerri A. Moynihan; cherished great grandmother of Jed, Lily, Aidan and Kiley and the dear sister of the late Helen Page and Virginia Colameta. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many cousins.

Maureen McGunigle

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) Revere, today, Wednesday, September 8 at 9 a.m. for Maureen A. McGunigle

who died at Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday, September 1 after a brief battle with gallbladder cancer. She was 62 years old. The funeral will be followed by a Funeral Mass in Blessed Mother of the Morning Star Parish – St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., Revere at 10 a.m. immediately followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Maureen was born in Winthrop but was raised and educated in Revere. She was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1977.

Maureen began to work in the Insurance Industry right out of high school. She worked for Hartford Insurance in Boston in an administrative role for 20 years. She then took a position with the Commonwealth Land & Title Insurance Company, also in Boston, where she rose to the position of Assistant Vice President. She was with them for approximately 21 years and was working until her diagnosis. Maureen was optimistic with her illness and was determined to battle every day.

Maureen loved animals, especially her several feline companions that she had throughout her life. She was a devoted caretaker of her parents, as they grew older and became ill. She was also a longtime advocate and friend of Bill W.

Maureen was the devoted and loving daughter of the late Hilary J. McGunigle, Jr. and Marie A. (Falanga) McGunigle, cherished sister of Roseann C. Terrazzano and her husband, Vincent J., Jr. of Manchester, NH and Hilary J. McGunigle of Malden; adored aunt of Derrick V. Terrazzano of Manchester, NH and Joshua McGunigle of Massachusetts; dear niece of Ethel Maguire of Medway. She is also lovingly survived by several cousins and many friends.

Ethel Nazarian

Former McDonald’s employee who was loved by her co-workers and customers

Ethel Nazarian of Revere passed away on Sunday, August 29th at the age of 92.

She was the beloved wife of John Nazarian for over 70 years, who still resides in Revere and the best mom to her four daughters: June Nazarian, Donna Kepple, JoAnn Copeland and Nancy Kjersgard and also her grandchildren: Joseph, Matthew, Nicole, Rachel, Bobby and great granddaughter, Alexa.

She worked at McDonald’s in Revere for over 25 years and was loved by her coworkers and customers.

We will miss her dearly and keep her close in our hearts forever.

A private service will be held by her family.

Marie Vecchia

Graduate of RHS, Class of 1941

Marie Y. (Del Vecchio) Vecchia of Revere, in her 97 th year, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.

A graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1941, she was the beloved wife of the late Eugene F. Vecchia Sr. with whom she shared 57 years of marriage, loving mother of Gene and his wife, Tracy, devoted grandmother to Nicholas and his wife, Jennifer and Derek and his girlfriend, Sari; great grandmother of Lorenzo, Owen and her favorite canine, Blu and daughter of the late Euplio and Nicoletta (Fabiano) Del Vecchio.  She was pre deceased by her siblings: James Del Vecchio, Florance Reedy, Anthony Del Vecchio, Benjamin Del Vecchio,and Edith Silvestri and survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Rose Vecchia and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Paul Buonfiglio &  Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St,  Revere on Friday, September 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home at 12 Noon.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

Donna Puopolo

Former Personal Care Aide whose family brought her the most joy and happiness

Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, September 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) Revere, for Donna M. Puopolo, 68, who died at her residence in Revere in the loving care and presence of her family on Saturday, August 28 following a long illness. She was 68 years old. A Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation in the Funeral Home at 1 p.m., followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Donna was a born and raised in South Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School, Class of 1971. After graduation, Donna worked various jobs in and around the city. In the early 1980’s, the family moved to Revere’s Beachmont Section.

Donna worked very hard while raising her son and daughter. She later became a Personal Care Aide, caring for many elderly people. Her kind and caring demeanor allowed her many patients to feel at ease, as well as family members knowing that their family members were being cared for by Donna.

She also cared for her own parents, fulfilling their needs, as they grew older and became ill. Donna was forced to stop working due to her own declining health. The most important part of Donna’s life were the people that gave her the most joy and happiness, her family.

The devoted daughter of the late Gilbert and Lorraine (Maguire) Grushey, she was the loving mother of Donna M. Puopolo and her companion, Gary Fusco of Revere and the late John J. Puopolo; cherished and proud grandmother of Nina M. Russo, Robert E. “Bobby” Rose, both of Revere, Joseph Trocano,  Sadie Trocano, both of Danvers and Alexander Tirado of Lynn; treasured sister of Marilyn Peters of New Hampshire, Kimberly Grushey of Revere and William Grushey, both of Revere and the late Walter Grushey. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Anthony “Tony” Barletta, Jr.

Of Revere

Anthony “Tony” Barletta, Jr. of Revere passed away on September 6 at the age of 90.

Born in Revere on October 10, 1930 to the late Anthony Barletta Sr. and Lena (Belmonte), he is survived by his longtime companion Barbara Angelo of Saugus, dear brother of the late Carmine Barletta and his wife, Evelyn and the late Phillip Barletta and his wife, Frances, cherished uncle of Sandra Lee Newman and her late husband, Jack of Revere and Trisha Romano and her husband, Robert of Revere; adored great uncle of Jacqueline and Danielle Newman, and Gennara and Nicholas Romano.

Sean Pryor

Of Lowell

Sean M. Pryor, 48, of Lowell died suddenly on August 27.

The beloved son of the late Richard S. Pryor and Judith (Mangino) Pryor-Fezzuoglio and stepfather Joe Fezzuoglio, both of Revere, he was the devoted brother of Richard S. Pryor of Plymouth and Kelly L. Pryor of Revere, beloved uncle of the late Richard E. Pryor of Saugus, Matthew J. Pryor of North Reading, Kelsey M. Pryor of Revere, great uncle of Olivia Grace of Revere, cherished grandson of the late Anne and John Mangino and long time partner Lenore DeSilva and Sean’s devoted friend, Nick.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sean had a great sense of humor, enjoyed traveling, loved pets and was an avid gamer.

Anne Annese

Grover Manor Hospital retiree

Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday, September 9

from 12 to 2 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) Revere for Anne L. (Winer) Annese who died on Saturday, September 4,  with her loving family by her side, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry, NH, following a brief illness. She was 86 years old. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Anne was born and raised in Everett to James and Erna (Bottleson) Winer, immigrants fromf Norway. One of six children, she was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1952.

Anne married her husband, Gerald F. Annese in 1956 and the couple moved to Revere, where they raised their family. Anne was a proud and dedicated mother and homemaker. Her family was always first. After her children were in school, she joined her mother at the Grover Manor Hospital, where they worked alongside one another for over 20 years.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Anne, would describe her as a very pleasant and genuine woman. She loved to bake and knit. In 2012, she moved to New Hampshire, where she remained until her passing.

The beloved wife of 36 years to the late Gerald F. Annese, she was the loving and devoted mother of Michael J. Annese and his wife, Ellen L. of Saugus, Andrea A. Cogliano and her husband, John of Danville, NH and Jerry J. Annese of New Hampshire; cherished grandmother Christopher Cogliano of Danville, NH, Danyelle Cogliano – Gibbs of Hampton, NH and Joanna Cogliano of Sparks, NV and the adored great grandmother of seven. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces  grandnephews.
