East Coast Junior Patriots Begin Youth Hockey Practices

The Revere Youth Hockey organization, now playing in its second season under the banner of the East Coast Junior Patriots that also includes players from East Boston, Everett, and Malden, has begun practices for the 2020-21 season at the Cronin Rink in Revere.

League Treasurer Gerry Visconti, whose two sons, Gerry, 16, and Joseph, 9, participate in the hockey program, said the organization has 100 players skating on travel teams among five divisions of the Valley Hockey League.

The coaches and players are following strict COVID-19 guidelines that include the wearing of face coverings while on the hockey bench.

Joe DeSantis is back at the helm of the program, continuing an outstanding 30-year tenure as the legendary leader of Revere Youth Hockey.

“Joe is the heart and soul of the program – hands down,” lauded Visconti. “Without Joe, this program does not exist.”

As a youth, Visconti played in the East Boston Youth Hockey program at Porrazzo Rink, and later at Dom Savio High School, graduating in 1987.

“My sons got interested in hockey and you become involved or sit by the sidelines,” said Visconti, a Revere councillor-at-large. “And I’m not usually one to sit by the sidelines.”
