Doreen Bokarvich

MBTA Retiree

Doreen Bokarvich of Revere passed away August 22 at the age of 74.

Doreen grew up on Vane Street in Revere and then went on to work for 20 years at the MBTA. Doreen will truly be missed.

Born August 30, 1945 to the late Alexander Bokarvich and Dora (Rossetti), she was the devoted mother of William Bokarvich and John Bokarvich, both of Revere, dear sister of Judi Brusard and John Tora.

Due to her final wishes, all services will be held privately with arrangements by Paul Buonfiglio & Sons – Bruno Funeral Home.

Bernard Atkins

Loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather

Bernard Atkins of Revere peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 20 at the age of 92.

Bernie met Evelyn (Lintz) Atkins, the love of his life, on Revere Beach. After they married, they spent the next 66 years devoted to one another. Bernie was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born in Cambridge to the late Sarah (Resnic) Atkins and Harry Atkins and was a graduate of Chelsea High School and Vesper George School of Art in Boston. He was a World War II Veteran who served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines. He worked as a draftsman and electrical engineer at the Boston Shipyard and later at the Department of Defense. He was an active member of the Shriners, loved animals and enjoyed stamp and coin collecting. Family activities gave Bernie the most pleasure, especially filming special family events.

His last year was spent at Ledgewood Bay in Milford, NH with his beloved wife, Evelyn (Evy). He was well loved by everyone who met him for his humor and quiet intelligence. Bernie will be greatly missed by all who knew him especially his devoted family.

He is survived by his wife, Evy and he was the father of Mark and his wife, Ridette Atkins, Miryom Noviski, Debbie and her husband, LeRoy Marshall; grandfather of Bukkiah Golden, Ben Golden, Ashley Atkins, Courtney Furman, Brianna Atkins, Matthew Atkins and Lindsey Atkins and great-grandfather of MacKenzie, Isaiah, Elijah, Miracle, Simone, Zahra, Jo, Lydia, Naimorris, Ben and Bella.

Frances Rega

Graduate of RHS, Boston College and Cambridge College

Frances Rega, 70, of Revere, passed away on August 23 after a long and courageous battle with Breast Cancer.

Frances was a graduate of Revere High School, Boston College and later went on to Cambridge College where she obtained her Master’s Degree in English.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Elia and Marie (Interrantie) Rega, dear cousin of Donna Crowe and her husband, James of Middleton and Christina Carmody and her husband, Brian, adored Godmother of Danielle Crowe-Denoncourt and lifelong friend of Michele Vegelante of Winthrop. She is also survived by several loving cousins and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Frances’s honor at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., Revere on Thursday, August 27  at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
