Boston City FC Battle Rivals Kingston Stockade in Home and Away Series

A changed and improved Lions look to build on promising performance against Cosmos.

Boston City FC travel to Hudson Valley this weekend to visit rivals Kingston and then host the Stockade in Revere on Sunday, June 30, in National Premier Soccer League action.

The double-header kicks off at Dietz Stadium in Kingston on Saturday at 6pm then comes to Harry Della Russo Stadium eight days later, kickoff 6 p.m. Tickets for the June 30 match in Revere are available at www.BostonCityFC.com.

The Lions and Stockade have always contested exciting matches since first meeting in both clubs’ inaugural seasons in 2016. The playoff-chasing Stockade (6-1-3) are riding a nine-match unbeaten streak, six of those being wins, having not lost since the opening day of the season. Boston City (1-8-2) are without a win in five outings, but several personnel changes and a combative attacking approach in last week’s home loss to the unbeaten New York Cosmos did provide lively entertainment and optimism for the remainder of the season.

Striker Hugo Bomfim scored his second goal in three matches but will be without strike partner Jhonata Batista, who is suspended after picking up his fourth yellow card of the season, as is fellow forward Rigoberto Jimenez.

A trio of new midfielders and the return of joint top-scorer John Dumbuya boosted the Lions last week, giving Boston City supporters hope that the NPSL season can end on a high note. The club’s final two home matches in Revere will be at Harry Della Russo Stadium on June 30 against the Stockade and July 6 when New York Athletic Club are the visitors.
