Letter to the Editor

Thank you Mayor Brian Arrigo

Dear Editor:

The tree is finally gone after six years and it took one day with a new administration.

I want to thank you, Mayor Brian Arrigo, and assistant, Joe Gravellese. The tree that I have been trying to have taken down for the past six an a half years is gone. I have written letters in the Journal, called the City Yard, talked to two other past mayors and other City officials through the years – all have been working on it. LOL! Our new ward councillor Patrick Keefe has just begun to help too and I appreciated his effort. But I went to Mayor Arrigo’s office Thursday night at 5 p.m., and though the mayor was called away, I talked to Joe.

He listened to me for 45 minutes.

I told him how because of that tree all of these years I have had no power in the winter during many storms, no telephone and no TV.

I can do without television and phone, but power I need because my burner has electric start, so I have to go to stay with family to keep warm and pray that my pipes didn’t break. No one should live this way. So now I can stop worrying about this.

So from Thursday night, June 16, at 5 p.m. that I came to your office and Tuesday, June 21, at 8:30 a.m., my doorbell rang, it took one full business day and it was done in 40 minutes, shredded/gone. After all these years. I keep looking out my window to make sure it’s still gone. It’s been a stressful time for me. I worked for years to get a new McKinley School and wasn’t as stressed as this.

So again thank you very much.

Now, I’m on to fight the catch basin that has sunk and is pulling my driveway downhill.

Betty Marotta
