Catherine Daniels

Former Walmart Greeter

Catherine M. (Rizzo) Daniels of Taunton, formerly of South Boston, died on May 3. She was 96 years old.

Mrs. Daniels, who worked as a greeter at Walmart until age 84, was the devoted mother of Arlene, Richard and his wife, Belinda, Sandra, Joseph and his wife, Nancy; dear sister of Richard, Louie and Guy Rizzo, Eleanor Spinazzola and the late Charles and Angelo Rizzo, Pauline Blanchette and Joseph Rizzo. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Visiting hours are today,Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere. Ellen MacAllister

Nature Lover, Preservationist and Dog Trainer at Wonderland

Services and interment were held privately for Ellen M. (Barrowclough) MacAllister of Oak Island, Revere, formerly of Beverly, who died unexpectedly on April 30 at her home. She was 57 years old.

Ellen worked for several years as a trainer at Wonderland Dog Track until the park closed. She was born and raised in Beverly, attended schools and lived there until moving to Revere 10 years ago.

She was the beloved wife of Ralph R. MacAllister, Sr.; the dear sister of David and Thomas Barrowclough, both of Beverly and is also lovingly survived by: Gerald Spears of Revere, Muriel Spears of Provincetown, Beverly Dares of Ossippee, NH, Timothy Spears of Davie, Florida, Denise E. MacAllister and Samuel MacAllister, both of Revere, Billy Joe MacAllister of Lowell and the late E. Russell, Anthony P. and Ralph E. MacAllister, Jr. and Steven Spears.

Lucy Ledoux,

Full Time Mom and Family Seamstress

Lucy A. (DeStefano) Ledoux, a lifelong resident of Revere, died unexpectedly at her home on May 1. She was 73 years old.

Mrs. Ledoux was born and raised in Revere and was a 1958 graduate of Revere High School. She worked in the garment industry in her early life. However, having become a mother of five, she was a full time mom and their resident ‘seamstress.’ She loved sewing and it seems that most of the extended famil also benefitted from her expertise.

She was the cherished mother of Michael Ledoux of Revere (with whom she made her home), Susan M. Maggio and her husband, Mark of Malden, Diane M. Moccia and her husband, Steven of Palm Beach, Florida, Linda A. Angelone and her husband, Philip A. of Middleton and Danielle M. Haftery and her husband, Robert of Groveland; the dear sister of Frank Destefano and his wife, Janet of Salem, Maryann Curci of Bellingham and Joan Tello and her husband, Dominic of Everett. She is also lovingly survived by six grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be conducted from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere today, Wednesday, May 7 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Ella Scobbo

US Postal Service Retiree

Ella M. (Andreottola) Scobbo, a lifelong resident of Revere, died at the Whidden Memorial Hospital on April 29 after a long illness. She was 96 years old.

Born and raised in Revere, she was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1937. She had a 16 year career with the US Postal Service at Ft. Point Channel (So. Postal Annex) Boston as a mail clerk, retiring in 1983 and was a member of the American Postal Workers’ Union.

She was the wife of the late Ralph Sgobbo who died in March of 1968; the mother of Ellen M. Sgobbo of Revere and the late Frederick A. Scobbo, cherished grandmother of Debra Sgobbo of Kentucky, Glen C. Sgobbo and his wife, Wendy, Jeffrey M. Sgobbo and his wife, Andrea, all of Columbus, Ohio and Nicholas F. Sgobbo and his wife, Cristina and Jana Sgobbo, all of Dublin, Ohio; the dear sister of: Joseph Cocuzzo of Newton and the late Angelina Burns and Edith Ardolino. She is also lovingly survived by her four great grandchildren: Nadiya, Amanda, Anthony and Oliver and by several nieces and nephews.

Scott Miller

Of Beachmont

Scott R. Miller of Beachmont, Revere died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 27 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. He was 31 years old.

Born in Cambridge and raised in (Beachmont) Revere, he was the loving son of Raymond E. and Nadine E. (Collar) Miller. Scott was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 2000. He attended North Shore Community College and was about to receive his Associate’s Degree at Bay State Community College.

Scott leaves his sister, Noelle C. Miller of Revere, two aunts, one uncle, several cousins and thousands of friends.

Clarissa Stewart

Of Haverhill, formerly of Revere

Clarissa T. (Reid) Stewart of Haverhill, formerly of Revere, died Wednesday, April 30 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. She was 89 years old.

She was born in Glasgow Scotland, December 2, 1924, the daughter of the late Robert H. and Annie H. (Mitchell) Reid. At an early age, Clarissa and her family moved to Revere. She was educated in the Revere school system and graduated from Revere High School with the Class of 1943.

Mrs. Stewart resided in the Beachmont area of Revere for over 60 years before moving to Bradford in 2004 to be with her daughter. While living in Bradford, Clarissa attended the First Church of Christ in Bradford.

Clarissa was predeceased by her loving husband, Ian Stewart, who passed away in 2003, her brother, Thomas Reid and her sister, Anna Mae (Reid) Wallace. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Burke and her husband, Robert of Bradford, a son, John Stewart and his partner, Michael Ikoma of Medford, a sister, Elizabeth R. Lamont of Kennebunkport, ME., three grandchildren: Jennifer A. Chmieleski and her husband, Stephen, Robert D. Burke and his wife, April, and Heather L. Morgan and her husband, Benjamin; seven great-grandchildren: Sean D. Burke, Samantha L. Burke, Jonathan J. Burke, Kaylee M. Chmieleski, Connor I. Chmieleski, Daniel N. Morgan and Brad L. Morgan, and several nieces and nephews.

James “Jim” Terranova of Revere passed away April 26.

A US Army Lt. Colonel (Retired), he was the beloved husband of the late Teresa (Castaldo) Terranova ; dear brother of Josephine Terranova of East Boston and the late Natalie De Amelio, Mary Miraglia, Jennie Scandora, Helen, Carl, Frances, John and Thomas Terranova and the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews and he also leaves many close friends.

Claire M. (Calderone) Williams of Revere passed away at home surrounded by her family on April 28.

The beloved wife of the late Daniel Williams, she was the loving mother of Daniel Williams and his wife, Lisa of Florida and the late Edward and Anthony Williams; dear sister of Phyllis Varricchio of Chelsea, George and Joseph Calderone, both of East Boston and the late James and Edward Calderone; cherished grandmother of Nicholas Napolitano and Michelle Shea and and great grandmother of Bailynn and Allen. Emma A. Poindexter

Retired Cambridge City Hospital Chief X-Ray Technologist

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route107) Revere on Saturday, May 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. for Emma A. (D’Abbraccio) Poindexter, longtime Arlington resident, who died on March 13 at the Concord Health Care Center following a long illness. She was 93 years old. The funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

Born and riased in Providence, RI, she was educated there and came to live in Arlington 60 years ago. Mrs. Poindexter worked for more than 46 years at Cambridge City Hospital rising in rank to the Chief of the X-Ray Department, a post she held until her retirement in the late 1980’s.

She was the wife of the late John H. Poindexter who died in July of 1980; the beloved mother of Howard J. Poindexter of So. Carolina and the late Dana M. Poindexter and is also survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Doris J. Poindexter of Townsend, MA; the devoted grandmother of: Renee J. Poindexter-Polonsky and her husband, Eric of Roda, Spain, Brett N. Poindexter and his wife, Bethany of Townsend, MA, Paul, Amy, Danielle and Sara Poindexter and the late Jonathan Poindexter. She was the sister of the late Frederick D’Abbraccio, Dorothy Gibbs, Etta Ciccolo and Louise Geswaldo and is also lovingly survived by nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Florence Hill

Hill Insurance Agency Office Manager

A large gathering of about 200 people were present on Monday, April 28 for the Funeral Mass of Florence E. (Hannigan) Hill who died on Tuesday, April 22 at her Revere residence in the sanctity and love of her family. She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Hill was born and raised in Revere, attended Revere Schools and was a 1941 graduate of Revere High School.

She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas L. Hill, Sr. in August of 1946 and raised their three children.

In 1947, Mr. Hill established and operated “Hill Insurance Agency” on Broadway, Revere, where Florence became the office manager. Over the years, she met many many people and forged long lasting relationships with business associates and friends.

Florence was a devotee of the Immaculate Conception Parish Family and a benefactor who served on the Immaculata Guild and was active in many fundraising activities. She especially enjoyed vacationing in Westford, MA and Greenacres, Florida with her husband.

“Hill Insurance Agency” is still owned and operated by the family and administered by her husband, Thomas L. Hill.

The cherished mother of James J. Hill and his wife, Marica, Judith Hill and her companion, Edward Sissone and Thomas L Hill, Jr. and his wife, Tammi, all of Revere, she is the devoted grandmother of Erin Hill of Cambridge, Jamie Harrop and her husband, James of Peabody, Jessica Hill-Little and her husband, Jason of Cleveland, Ohio, Thomas L. Hill, III and his wife, Sabina and Jason Hill, all of Revere and is also lovingly survived by two great grandaughters, Abigayle Harrop and Juliana Little. She was also the respected sister in law of: Helen “Honey” Hill, Grace Sanella and her husband, Frederick, all of Revere and John Cogliano of Westport, MA and Florida, Margaret Doherty-Hannigan of Newton, Eleanor F. Cronin-Hill and Carolann Hegarty-Hill, both of Revere. She was the daughter of the late Geroge H. Hannigan and FLorence (Hodgkins) Hannigan and was also the sister of the late: Claire E. Tamburino, Audrey Cogliano, Mary G. Silva and Joseph, Paul and George H. Hannigan, Jr.
