Stephen John Logan

Longtime SCSD Correctional Officer

Stephen John Logan of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away on October 3 after a long battle with cancer.

He proudly served as a correctional officer for the SCSD for 26 years. Stevie loved his job whether it was working the “west wing” at The Island or 3-3 at The Bay.

He never stopped carrying his badge or using it to get out of a speeding ticket here or there.

Stephen was extremely loyal and never judged people whether it was an inmate or a new officer everyone got the same chance.

He had an ability to find humor anywhere and could make life long friends in an instant.

Stephen had a gift to make the people around him more comfortable. A family friend said recently about him “he made us all feel rich no matter what we had in our pockets.”

He loved his church The Revival Fire Deliverance Ministries of Vero Beach, FL. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, brothers and sons.

Stephen loved sports. He would spend hours telling stories about Jim Rice or reenacting the pop up Rico Petrocelli caught in ’67.

He also loved his car that he would polish everyday with the help of his wife because as he said “I can’t down there and do the rims, I’ll never be able to get up.”

Stephen also loved his home in Florida where he recently had all the grass replaced with the nice stuff they use at golf courses.

Stephen made an indelible impression on all who crossed his path and will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of hundreds of friends, 10 nieces and nephews, five brothers and sisters, two beautiful granddaughters Lilah and Laynie known as “Papa’s babies,” his four children: Logey, Jimmy, Lauren and his Feetheart Ashley and, of course, his loving wife, Lorena.

Stephen was my Father, my rival and most of all my first and best friend.

I love u Dad…
