Judith Bostrom

Retired Employee of Bianco Inc. of Revere

Judith A. (Collins) Bostrom of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on June 8 at the Leonard Florence Center of Chelsea following a long and arduous struggle with cancer. She was 68 years old.

Born in Boston and raised and educated in East Boston, she has lived in Revere for 58 years and was a 10-year employee of Bianco Inc. of Revere.

She was the daughter of the late John F. Collins and Anne M. (Reardon) Collins; the beloved sister of John F. “Jack” Collins and his wife, Beverly and Barbara M. Orsini, all of Revere and Charles J. Collins of East Boston; the dear aunt of: Karen Sarro and her husband, Frank and Paul Collins and his wife, Lisa, all of Wakefield, Tracey Walter of Hudson, NH, Sharon Winnett and her husband, John and Tina Collins, all of Londonderry, NH. She is also lovingly survived by grand nieces and grand nephews: Christina, John, Ryan, William, Kristen, Ashley, Olivia and Nadia.

Her funeral will be conducted today, Wednesday, June 13 from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Thomas Motherwell, Jr.

Custodian, Life Member and Trustee of Winthrop Elks

Thomas M. Motherwell, Jr. of Winthrop died on June 8 after a long illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers.

He was a life member and trustee of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks and a graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1971. For many years, he worked for Northwest Airlines in passenger service. He also worked for the Town of Winthrop, within the School System as a Custodian.

He was the devoted father of Thomas M. Motherwell, III and his companion, Tracey Kwiatek of Quincy; cherished grandfather of Thomas A. and Shaelyn T. Motherwell; devoted nephew to Richard D. Hartigan and his wife, Janet A. of Revere and is also lovingly survived by many cousins. He was the beloved son of the late Thomas M. and Teresa V. (Hartigan) Motherwell.

Chad Burns

Member of Moose and American Legion

Chad F. Burns of Revere died suddenly on June 7. He was 40 years old.

A member of the Revere Moose Lodge 1272 and the Revere American Legion, he was the beloved husband of Susan (Liberatore); devoted son of Robert and Marion (Fisher) Murphy; loving brother of Lorraine Kane of California, Linda Nowlan and Louise Lange, both of Revere; dear son in-law of Nancy and William Liberatore of Florida and brother in-law of Nancy Liberatore of Revere and William Liberatore of Florida. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Jeanne A. (Bonamo) Santoro, a lifelong resident of Malden, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 4. She was 82 years old.

She was the devoted wife of the late Henry “Joe” Santoro; beloved mother of Joseph Santoro and his companion, Susan LaGrasse of Andover, Marianne Deschene and her husband, Kevin of Revere, Barbara Ringdahl and her husband, Glenn of Malden and the late John Santoro. She was the sister of six late brothers and two late sisters; cherished grandmother of Christopher and his companion, Becky, Jennifer and her husband, Tom, Tara and her fiancé, Erik, Lori and her companion, Ehren, Sarah, Katie and her husband, Pauli, Ryan, Rachel, Julie, Christy, Lisa, Deanna and Michael and great grandmother of Megan and Jacob and their mother, Tami. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Catherine Desmond

Revere Resident

Catherine G. (Doherty) Desmond of Revere, formerly of Charlestown, died recently. She was 101 years old.

She was the wife of the late Matthew Desmond; daughter of the late John and Nora (Reagan) Doherty; loving mother of Geraldine Winters of Revere, Richard Desmond of Salem and Robert Desmond of Saugus; sister of Ruth Nee of Marshfield and the late Agnes Desmond, William Doherty and John Doherty. She is also survived by 10 loving grandchildren, 13 ½ great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Domingo Alvarez

Of Chelsea and the Dominican Republic

Domingo Alvarez of Chelsea and the Dominican Republic died on May 31 in the Dominican Republic. He was 78 years old.

Born in Cuba, he was the son of the late Juan and Anna Alvarez. He came to the United States when he was in his 20s and settled in Chelsea. He was a longtime resident of Chelsea and also spent time living in Revere. He worked as a truck driver and later moved to the Dominican Republic to open his own produce business. He had been living between Chelsea and the Dominican Republic for the past 25 years.  He enjoyed watching baseball and was a Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by 16 children, his brother, Armando Alvarez and his sisters; Dora Simo, Juana and Reyna Garcia. Carmella (Caturano) Dragani of Amesbury, a former long time resident of Revere and Everett, died on June 6. She was 87 years old.

A food preparer for the Revere Public Schools and the Revere Memorial Hospital, she retired from the Marriott.She was the beloved wife of the late Rocco Dragani; devoted mother of Colette Molineaux and her husband, Jim of Dalton, Marianne Draper and her husband, Pat of Amesbury, Roger Dragani and his wife, Debbie of Peabody, Edward Dragani and his wife, Kateri of Salisbury and is also survived by Nicolette Luti and her husband, James of Saugus and Roberta Burke and her husband, Joe of Randolph; dear sister of the late James Caturano, Filomena Cionti, Margaret Raymond and Joseph Caturano; cherished grandmother of Heather Kokinacis, Patrick Draper, Sheri and Michelle Molineaux, Roger Jr., Nathan, Tabitha , Amanda, Olivia, Eddie Jr. and Aidan Dragani. She was the great-grandmother of eight and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Herb Reed

Founder of The Platters

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, June 26 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Regent Theater, 7 Medford St., Arlington Center for Herb (Herbert A. Reed) international entertainer and founder of Herb Reed’s Platters who died on Monday, June 4 at Kaplan Family Hospice of Danvers following a long period of declining health. He was 83 years old.

He was the beloved father of Herbert A. Reed, Jr. of Arizona; grandfather of Amir and Blair Reed, also of Arizona; brother of the late: Gracie Mamie Reed, Leon, Gene and Julius Reed and Caroline Viola Reed. He is also lovingly survived by his extended musical family: Billie Cox of Lynn, Wayne Miller of Everett, Angela Allen of Randolph, Efrain “Frank” Pizarro of New York City, Frederick J. Balboni, Jr. and family of West Peabody, Michael Larson of Hyde Park and Dan and Lori Norris of Salem, NH. Herb also leaves a large extended biological family of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins in Kansas City, Missouri.

Domenic Frammartino

Retired Revere Teacher

Domenic P. Frammartino of Danvers, formerly of Revere, died on June 4 at Emeritus House, Cherry Hill in Danvers, following a long illness. He was 83 years old.

Mr. Frammartino was born and raised in Revere and was a 1947 graduate of Revere High School, a 1952 alumnus of Boston University and received his Master’s Degree in Guidance from Boston College, Class of 1959. He worked on his Doctorate at Boston State Teachers College.

From 1952 to 1992, he served within the Revere School System as a Guidance Counselor and a History, Science and Italian Teacher. He was a member of the Mass. Teachers Association, the Retired Revere Teachers Association and the Lynn Camera Club.

The beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Morelli) who died on May 18, 2011, he was the devoted father of Mark A. Frammartino and his wife, Barbara of Wanaque, NJ, Michele A. Lea and her husband, Louis of Danvers, Michael A. Frammartino of Peabody and Maria A. Blaikie and her husband, Robert of Danvers; cherished grandfather of Robert D. and Anna R. Blaikie, Alexander J., Christopher L. and Nicholas E. Lea, all of Danvers and Nikki E. Frammartino of Wanaque, NJ; dear brother of Amelia Frammartino of Revere and the late Nicholas E. and Mary Frammartino, Lena Scafidi and Theresa Stickney. He was also the brother in law of Albert J. “Bert” Morelli and his late wife, Kathleen of Revere and is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Jack Palermo of Beachmont Revere died unexpectedly on June 6.

He was the cherished son of Concetta (Scurto) Palermo of Revere and the late Albert Palermo; dear brother of the late Frank Palermo and his wife, Susan, of Florida.

Mr. Palermo was employed in the Aircraft Division of GE in Lynn and enjoyed his motorcycle and Revere Beach.
