Skaters Wrap Up Season; Three Named NEC All Stars

The Revere High hockey team competed in the Newburyport Bank Classic Tournament last week. Although the Patriots came up on the short of the decisions in both contests, Coach Jim Palumbo used all of his charges to give his younger and returning players some key varsity  experience as they look ahead to next season.

The Pats fell in the tourney opener on Tuesday by a 5-0 margin to Triton and then by  a 9-3 margin to Matignon two days later. Joe Corbett lit the red lamp twice in the Matignon game and Pat Bartol accounted for the third Revere tally.

“This was a good opportunity to give everyone a chance to play,” said Palumbo, whose squad was eliminated from a state tourney berth last week. “We have 15 boys coming back for next year’s team and it was nice to give them that playing experience.”

Although Revere finished with a 6-14 mark on the season, three Patriots, Corbett, Dale Paradise, and Jeff Redding, earned Northeastern Conference All Star status.

The trio took part in the NEC all star game Saturday. All three acquitted themselves well with Redding turning in an outstanding performance in net in the third period.
